At one point I had heard that the government wanted the 28 Hatteras as patrol boats, but due to a disagreement with Hatteras (Slane), bought one, made a mold and had someone else build the boats.

In FL, we have a refrigerator with freezer in the garage. My wife has never liked and has outright complained about the fact that I took over the freezer for bait. The funny thing is the boat stuff I have taken on planes.
The mold got a strange look, but nothing gets the look of a boat fender.
The plastic stock ... just the stock ... of a Mossberg almost got me arrested and surely on someones list somewhere !!

My son installed the following "D" gasket and we have not had a leak all summer. It is rubber and shaped like a "D". When you close the window it squashes down and creates a solid seal. Hatteras had a 45 express at the show that i would swear was a 45 CABO in disguise, even though the salesman said no.
Hatteras hasn't made a 45' boat in many years .... and "coincidentally" CABO is gone and a 45 pops up.

I lived in Westchester and Dutchess Counties for a bit and boated on the Hudson. Although it is a river, it is a large body of water and the real kicker can be the commercial traffic, which as we know is large and can't usually stop until they have mowed you down.
