Re: Any prop Gurus?

I run Acme's also and love them, though on a 33 Sportfish with 330's. I agree with what's being said about adding a little more cup if you want a little more load/ speed but beware, Acme doesn't run the cup all the way across the back edge like other prop manufacturers so if the guy you take it to d...

Re: I dropped 200F EGT

Thanks Harry,
I have what looks like the same filters and run about 900 or so, which is supposed to be OK but 200 less would be a hell of a good thing! I will have to try removing one when the water thaws out..

Re: Underwater lights??

Hey Dug, Those would certainly be worth considering. The problem I have is that without seeing them function, I have no way to know what their numbers mean. My local electronics guy had the ones I went with and didn't have much of a choice. It would be nice if all these LED guys would set up booths ...

Re: Underwater lights??

I put a pair of Lumishore LEDs in my boat last year. They do require a 3/8" hole through the transom. They are made of aluminum encapsulated in some sort of plastic resin so no corrosion issues. I live in the Northeast so was told that for my waters the blue color would be best for fishing and went ...

Re: 6BTA After Cooler O-ring Dimensions

Ya, Mcmaster-carr is where I go first, no luck. They will make custom ones but I haven't taken the time to find out how much a hundred or so of those would cost.Or maybe they have a minimum of a thousand , I really don't know. For now I buy them from Tony at about 15 bucks apiece, which is about half...

Re: 6BTA After Cooler O-ring Dimensions

Frank, The other size you are referring to is quite a bit larger . So much so that Marshal would not have mentioned that it was roughly 1/8 inch. I have seen several after cooler cores and have never seen the larger O ring used so all things considered felt safe recommending the size that I did. Use...

Re: 6BTA After Cooler O-ring Dimensions

Marshal, I lurk here mostly, have replied a few times over the years on a few topics. I assume you have the 330's? or at least the same after-coolers as the 330/ 370's use . The O rings that Tony Athens sells for this application are .148" thick. I have looked for them and can't find any the exact d...

You can tig weld copper using either strips of copper or silicon bronze rod. It welds well and makes a strong joint. Can't remember if you use AC or Dc but it's not hard to figure out. My second choice would be really good silver solder if you have to use a torch.

Andy, The tanks were made like a shoe box. One layer of 1/8" glass , then the baffles were riveted in, then the lid glassed on and then another layer of 1/8" glass , totaling 1/4" . The mould was on the inside, as you can see, at least on the later tanks. The early tanks were made with the mould on ...

Well to add to the thought process, I have run all season on E10 in my 33 and have not changed filters, still only use the original mercruiser ones and used no additive untill my last tank of gas on the way home from Oak Bluffs two months ago, which is still in the boat. I don't think I needed the s...

I will admit that in years past I never gave it much thought and wasn't too concerned about condensation, so just left whatever was in the tank without so much as a stabilizer and never had any problems. Now with the threat of ethanol attaching itself to any outside moisture and the real possibilty ...

Peter, My boat( a 33 SF btw) is home in my yard as of yesterday. I have about 150 gallons in the tank that I plan to pump or siphon out and use in my truck and car for awhile. I am not so worried about fumes. It seems that I've always been able to smell gas from the fuel vent and never had an explos...

To keep it simple I was thinking of retaining the single vent hose , adding the desicant and also a fuel water separater on the atmosphere side. I originally thought a separater made for a compressed air system would work but after looking at one I realized there is a lot of plastic pieces that can'...

Patrick , Peter, I like the way you guys think. I too have been wondering why we couldn't keep the vents venting to somewhere else but out into the atmosphere but I was thinking more about the vapor recovery systems on cars. I am a little ashamed to say that I don't know exactly how the system on a ...

Joe, I checked that resin number. According to Lee Dana the resin used from the mid eighties onward was the hetron692TP25. And again, this is the info I passed on to Mike Stevens at Ashland ,and this is the resin he will be testing. (I hope) Obviously this may be good news for owners of later boats,...

Joe,
The guys name is Mike Stevens. I don't have the number of the resin with me right now, it's back at the shop. I'll get it tomorrow. The original number that Lee Dana mentioned is evidently the mil spec. #
