*UPDATE* Seems like the economical RPM is between 2200RPM and 2300RPM which is between 17 and 18 MPH. I have the 45a's in my B28. I am only running 150HP Cumins 4BT's. I think the 240HP you are running would be maxing the rating on the zf45a's.

Double check the specs. The 45a's sure are light though. I installed them by myself by hand with not too much effort.

The way Peter described the tank as a "T" shape , that sounds very much the same as the tank I installed that was from Moeller. The 157 gallon poly tank.

You should check the dimensions it may be a good match for your boat.

I bought a Poly tank made by Moeller. It is made pretty beefy and I have no complaints but this is also my 1st season with it.

They offer many sizes and configurations and you would need to find one that will fit your application.

I am in Massapequa and thinking about going to Montauk for a couple of days in late September.

I was thinking about going right out of Jones Inlet and taking the outside the whole way. Any pro's or con's?

The reason the 4BT's have more room is because I am using ZF down angle transmissions. They take up so much less room than the velvet drives.

Thanks guys i will keep you posted I got the CAM just need to find some time to bang it out.

I unfortunately need to cut a hole in the bulkhead to install the cam. It will be going thru the head (bathroom wall). Just what my boat needs another hole.

I am going to take my time on this one.

Looks like I am going to hold the lifters up with wooden pegs that get lightly tapped into them from above.

Then cam gets removed / installed while pegs are held up by rubberbands.

The procedure is ACTUALLY in the Cummins manual.

At the very least you want FULL advance before you reach you cruising RPM. I am a little rusty but I am pretty sure you should be getting just over 30 degrees at FULL advance. Maybe even 33degrees IIRC.

Timing is very critical and make sure it is working properly.
