Dug is on the money when he recomended American. I had my bases done by Dave about 5 years ago. Cost was 400.00ollars. Ialso had cleats done. Dave came to Carvers in Point Pleasant and took the bases apart. Lots of small pieces and pins and dowles. I don't think Dave is with American anymore though....

U V do you have any pictures of that phasor genset in AJ? I made the mistake of putting in the 3.5 phasor. It runs at 2800 and sounds like a jackhammer. Do you have a lift muffler? The 3.5 is a one lunger and very hard to fire up. I ingested raw water into it while trying to start it.It also lives o...

I have cummins 6bta's. I have 1 racor for each engine, 900 ma's. The filters are 10 microns, although I was told by the cummins guy I could use the 30's. You may only burn 7 gallons an hour but you have more fuel passing through for the return. Some fuel is used as coolant and lube then retuned to t...

Going to put A.C. in the boat this year. Thou`s of you who have done it, what`s the best location for the unit? How many BTU`s, and which is a good unit. Was thinking under the foward seat in the cabin. Boat is a 31 FBC. Anything I should know? Thanks in advance. Russ

Go to an electral supply outlet, they have tinned copper braid in 1 inch wide strips. An ice pick or an awl pushed threw the center will make a 3/8 hole so you can attach #8 green wire to it with nuts and bolts. Flat washers in between make a good connection. I believe the braid is a Dupont product....

Capt. Pat, Is there any reason not to use the 8 braid copper grounding strap for a primary strip? It's only about half inch wide, but thicker than 26 guage. Or would you recomend the solid 1 inch wide strip? The braid is much more pliable and easier to work with. Getting ready to do the bonding syst...

U.V., How can I order some cx from you? I'm not sure which one to use. Just bought Cummins remans and I see a lot of metal that isn't painted. I don't think it's just raw metal but all the fuel line fittings, the gear fittings and the arm on the gear for foward and reverse. Twin disc gears. Was thin...

Does anyone have any experience with Panda gen sets?I`m looking into the 4kw model, it seems to be very small and lightweight. The only issue I have with it is it sits in a fiberglass case and the top lifts off so that you can service it. I don`t know if there`s enough height in the engine compartme...

I'm currently repowering my 31 FBC with Cummins 6bta's. Carver 's boat works in Point Pleasant, N.J. is doing the conversion. The engines are rated at 260 HSP@2600 rpm. Reconditioned cummins
I'm in the process of ordering reconditioned 6 BTA's. I was told duel disc gears are better than the ZF gears. The engines are 260 H.P. What gear ratio would be most suitable? My boat is a 1976 31 F B. Also would like to know if 1 1/2 shafts are heavy enough? Thanks to all the faithfull in advance! ...
