A word of caution. If you move the jackstands and blocks when the paint is wet, you stand a good chance of droping the boat. I only know this from experiance. Most boat yards want to move the stands them selves to avoid liabilty. Take the time and let the paint kick. You could jack up a 31 with the ...

After you work with the stuff long enough you become immune to the itch.

Brewester, we have 100% confidance in the old iron but things happen that are beyond our control. We also might run into someone with a nice mega-yacht that will tow the old 31 as we sip umbrella drinks on the lido deck while on the way to the islands.

If you would like to work on your own boat or just brush up on things you forgot Nigel Calder's Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual has some good info in it. Espically if you have a old 31 with a half mile of unknown wires haging around under the flybridge from previous owners.

Use a hair drier or heat gun a fair distance away and the bubbles will just go away. Be carefull with the heat gun espically as it starts to kick.

We've had great luck with Interlux Micron 66 alblative paint down here in Florida. We use the boat almost every weekend, if the boat will sit idle for long periods of time Trindad SR hard paint is the ticket.

A while back someone was talking about a chrome plater on long island that did a good job and was affordable and I'm tring to get in touch with them. This is a interesting issue. I found most yards charge you for things they don't do. Keep the line of communication open and maybe use a paint pensil to line out where the work needs to be done on the boat.
