Yanmar Turbo Question
Mechanic took port engine turbo to be rebuilt (315 HP 6LP). After about a week or two rebuilder says it can't be rebuilt and a new unit is going to be $3000. Just want to get feedback if this sounds reasonable.

Frank, I know people with 4bts and 6bts on the road and industrial that have sleeved their blocks after several bores due to many, many, many hours and and a few bores on their engines. I don't know if there is a reason this is not a good idea on a marine application, but someone here will. The cost...

Great family boat and cruiser, not an offshore machine like your 31B. They are well built, but flat bottomed so they pound quite a bit. But wives and kids love them because their interiors are huge for the size.

Island Packet makes a very sea kindly boat. They are a bit slow and the full keel keeps them a bit off the wind on a close reach, but they are really comfortable, safe, and pretty. I want to say the Cabo builders were somehow involved, but I think that may have been Pacific Seacraft. Good luck to yo...

DJ,
A few more places to talk to if you need them-
Nassau Chrome (516) 746-6666 (Mineola, NY)
Superior Plating (203) 255-1501 (Southport, CT)
HarCon Chrome (800) 603-6801 (Hartford, CT)
I can't speak to pricing on your job, but I can say these are top quality platers.

That is sad to hear killa. Is there a fix for the hose? Does it rub and the hose fails or is it at the fittings? Any feedvback appreciated.
Another question. How would the old block be rebuilt that makes it so expensive versus a replacement block.

It is really tough to tell by the pic. Possible that it is plated (nickle/elctroless nickle?) and that the plating is failing due to the wobble.
