What really sucks is it sounds like a squabble between the feds and state people and the feds have decided to make life miserable for the average joe in order to put pressure on the state. It sounds like they think fisherman are going to complain to the state and force their hand. From the Texans I ...

I'd sure love to get a look at the boat...we'll see what happens. Have admired the pics of her for a long time now. How thick is that glass b.head? That bulkhead...

Kevin- I assume that you are using an electric pump. I have had good success with hand drill powered pumps. Craftsman (sears) has a decent one. Jabsco makes one as well, and I think theirs comes with the adapters and hose to use for oil change via dipstick. There are others around, but they are real...

I have to think this is Photoshop. On African safaris the folks are very aware of lions (or anything else) in the area. When my brother shot his it was very, very intense. The only thing more dangerous was being charged by a Cape Buffalo that had been wounded a few days earlier by poachers. The thin...

Kinda the reason I stayed a small business. Back in the late 80's I expanded to multiple trucks and personel in the shop and on the road. This at a time when mobile marine was still scarce. A friend of mine bought a sailboat that had all the teak varnished beautifully. had to be 1/16" thick of varnish. He left the boat uncovered and on the hard for a few seasons and that varnish peeled off and fell onto the cockpit sole. After a particularly good rain he called me and asked if I could ...

THe &*&*)& Europeans refused to cut their quota this year, despite the fact that the scientists they hired told them they had to, or face catastrophic collapse within 5 years. That Cetal actually peels up in strips over time if not maintained. If you want low maintenance, then teak oil is the ticket. One caveat, try not to let blood dry on the teak, it may stain and will need some elbow grease to clean. Just get in the habit of dumping a bcuket of cold Lake Michigan water...

Walter/jryan If you are curious I can ask what the cost would be. I don't really think the lot charge would be more than a $250-$300. They just put the poles in strip then re-anodize. No certifications or anything, which is what drives the cost. The key is finding a place that has tanks long enough ...

I was wondering if it would be possible to take a pair of black outriggers and change the color, say to silver? JR Jack, you can absolutely change the color. The existing anodize must be stripped, and then the parts are re-anodized, colored, then sealed. My guy (Mike Duffy) said once the anodize is...

Checked with a specialist. He says short of black powder coat or paint, the only thing to do is polish it. You can wet sand using ultra-fine crocus cloth or ultra-fine scothbrite, maybe followed by simoniz or glass wax and then polish. But, at some point the black dye will be gone. Then the option i...

Joef- Anodize does two things when applied. Anodize adds a layer of protective oxidation coating above the material. But, at the same time it actually etches away the surface it is being applied to. The resultant anodize thus is pretty deep in the material and probably is not being removed with the ...

Mike- would you consider mounting it inside the bridge console? Mounted on the inside forward wall of the bridge super structure. The C500 is close to the furuno units which makes wiring easy. If you epoxy in a nice mounting plate of marine ply (or really anything you have) then attach the c500 to t...
