I dont know shiiiii# but I think, More chain, heavy weight, lay it flat. It aint the anchor in my opinion. And make sure the anchor line isnt to big either. I first had 5/8 samson for my boat. Well that stuff floated like a life vest. No anchor would ever find bottom with a line that had a date in 5...

nobody can claim fame to a single manufacturer. no arguments- mtu is the best 1200hp and above .all of the man engines are fragile but if you maintain them like a watch there powerfull for size. at 710 hp the best of cat is the c-9 . at 535 hp nothing is better than cummins . at 400 hp there is lug...

I agree, the 3208 was hard to beat. Today i dont think cat has as good a reputation with some of their engines. 3116, c-12, 3196........ I mean if you have these in a boat, the boat is virtually unsellable. I too am trying to buy a boat with volvo's. Only because it seemed to be the engine of choice...

Alright, Im trying to buy a new boat right now. [used] I read so many things, dont buy this engine, dont buy that engine..............What is the engine to buy? One of the reasons I dont want to buy a really big boat is I cant afdford to re-power a boat with 125,000 or worse. At my age it just aint ...

sometimes you can, and sometimes you cant. Look on the end, it may have the length in inches. I agree with the rope idea but, if it snags well, just order lunch and settle in for a day. Overall it aint that hard. be sure that the way the cable lays is ok with you however. A little to long wont hurt ...

Re: Painting new oil pan
Here we go again! After seven years of anticipation, the starboard engine oil pan on Catequipt has rusted thru. In 2004 I replaced the port engine pan. At the time after consulting with the "Faithful", I painted the new pan with a PPG two part epoxy bare metal primer. After five years it still look...

Re: Trick to working with Copper
Running a Copper job this week and I started scrapping parts, normal coolant and cutting oils where giving me grief on a few intricate cuts. Someone mentioned using Milk as a cutting fluid. I thought he was joking, but said the butter fats are supposed to work well in that application. I figured wh...

Anybody got a line on where I can pickup a 3208 375HP long block or complete run tested? My old source dried up. Bruce, you seem to have alot of knowledge on here. Im leaning towards a boat that has 6-92's. They are very rebuildable arent they? I have always had cats before but they arent the re-bu...

you want to take the canal. take the right after you go under the bridge, at the last red marker to the lobster house. go all the way till the red marker is on your port, then turn right towards the commercial boats. its an easy run to ac from there out in the ocean. back out past the coast guard an...
