The carbs are Rodchester quadrajets. One other thing that was suggested to me is to swap the fuel monitors on each engine to see if it is the flow scan monitors. I will try this when I get a chance and let you know of the outcome. At least the total fuel consumption is correct.

Thanks everyone. Both carbs are new, not rebuilt. I will try the timing first as the props were just referbished and it has new plugs and no vibration. Should I retard the timing or advance it?

I just replaced carbs with new ones What could cause that big of a difference in fuel burn from one side to the other? I had the same fuel...

If you use 100 octane gas, could you change the timing and possibly increase gas milage to recouperate some of the extra money spent on the avgas? I had heard that this could be done, but not sure of the outcome.

I just completed the painting of my cockpit with Awlgrip and non-skid. Instead of mixing the non-skid into the topcoat, I primed my deck twice and after each priming, I put the non-skid in a salt shaker and applied it to the deck while the primer was still wet. By doing it this way, I avoided the cl...

Ethanol free gas in Oregon

Hopefully this is the changing of the tide. I just received my May 2008 Boat US magazine and it has an article in it that reports the good state of Oregon has passed a law that goes into effect Jan 1, 2009 to exempt gasoline sold for boats, aircraft, ATVs, power tools and classic cars from having to...

I did some research last week and have found that E-10 is now throughout all of Maryland, Deleware and Virginia eastern shore areas. The only place you can get gasoline without E-10 is Fairfax Virginia. This information was given to me from Cato Oil Co. serving Maryland eastern shore, telephone# 410...

71C Velvet Drive Trans

I have a 1977 28' Bertram with 71C Velvet Drive transmissions. One of the transmissions is leaking trans oil in the rear of the trans. My question is can I replace the oil seal in the bearing retainer at the output end of the transmission without removing the entire transmission from the boat? If so...
