New fuel tank question.
It is time to replace the fuel tank in the boat. It's a 1979 31 ft. Bertram with 330 hp 454's. I want to get the tank built out of aluminum. I want it prepped for a diesel upgrade later. What do I tell the tank builder to do when he builds the tank. I am located near Detroit Michigan and the tank bu...

What size anchor?
Looking to get another anchor for the boat and was wondering what you guys use. I am over here on Lake St. Clair in Michigan, bottom goes between hard sand, muck ( mud ), and tons of weeds. I have an Fortress FX-23 and it is too big. Going down to either a Fortress FX-16 or even maybe an FX-11. Most...

My vid of 31
Wed was the 32nd Fishing Derby for handicapped kids. The boat has been volunteering since it was new in 1979. Its great because we can usually take out around two or four wheelchairs because of the open rear end. Just a little vid of the first group we took out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9LgC...

Transom mount transducer?
I am looking to get the Lowrance HDS-10 unit for my boat along with the structurescan. My question is wouldn't the cavitation from the props mess with the picture of the structurescan? Lowrance told me if I was trolling it would be fine, not at cruising speed. Then Lowrance told me to contact Sternm...

Adding another Battery. One Gel or 2 Deep?
I have a 79 sportfish with 454s. The current setup is 2 31 series batteries from DEKA. The starboard engine battery is for that motor starting and all the house and the port motor is all by itself. I am upgrading hopefully the sonar and GPS, head unit radio, adding a 400 watt amp ( 70 watts x 4 ) fo...

Gas tank?
Looking to replace my gas tank because I think I might have the great Ethanol problem. ( gotta check when weather gets better) I am here in Michigan if anyone knows how to build the 222 gallon tank. I am running the Merc 454 gassers. Like to have the diesel fittings just in case. Should I go Alumini...

I got a Sportfisherman with upper and lower controls. I use the upper station about 98% of the time I drive. I'll always start the motors from the lower station and drove it about 3 or 4 time from below because of foul weather here on the great lakes. I use it for musky, perch, walleye, and anything...

I am 31 years old and got my 31 sportfisher 3 years ago. Very solid boat with 330hp 454. Boat was repainted about 5 years before I got it and was rewired in that time. Every spring I throw alittle $$$ into it. It is like an old car, it is never done. I would look for a solid boat and restore as you ...

My buddy and his father redo restaurants seating and layouts and I asked him to replace the wood on my bench because it was really starting to get spongey. He said the braces and hinges were exactly like bar stools he does. He made the seat board thicker and matched the seat material great. I'll ask...

Upgrade engine synchronizer
I have a 79 31 Bertram and I would like to free up some space on the upper bridge. It has an Judson engine sync. on it right now. Would like to get a nice little 3 1/2 guage for the engine synchronizer. Do they make anything like that would flash to tell you they are in sync. that will flush mount? ...
