Re: 28 Bertram - Project Dreamboat
To funny! Technology is excellent until it stops working. Old school definitely will always have a place.the outboards on my boat have a lot of tech on them controlling things. Under it all process is the same. Lightning is not a friend of modern vessels.

Re: 28 Bertram - Project Dreamboat
That’s a great setup with the 240 yanmars. I really wanted to do that conversation to my first but wasn’t in the cards back then. Doesn’t sound like they even make that engine anymore?

Re: 28 Bertram - Project Dreamboat
Hi Yannis,
They are counter rotating. My first 28 got 1 mpg so 1.65 is a big improvement. Getting there much faster too. I never thought a diesel 28 could get above 2 mpg. What are you running for power

Re: 28 Bertram - Project Dreamboat
Thank you Tony, she is great in head sea with the tabs holding her down. Tears it up. Little light with no tabs. Have to make that deep entry work! You can run 30mph in 2’ much more you are back to 25mph. I ran several props on it and plotted the mph vs gph, rpm vs gph and slip vs rpm. She does best...

Re: 28 Bertram - Project Dreamboat
Thank you guys. I will take a couple pics in there but honestly my creativeness came to a screeching haunt in there. Still unfinished. Lots of storage but underutilized at present. I am working on another currently. Added 4.5’ plus the bracket. Should have finished this one first but that is project...

Re: 28 Bertram - Project Dreamboat
Thanks! They should have showed more boat video. The guy running the drone was unreal. Trying to get raw footage which was about 30 minutes. He also did a ton of in water shots. I am certain They look way better than me. ![Very Happy :-D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Took a test ride of the tower on the shop floor! The break away hardware goes on the upper section Monday and the hole thing goes on the boat for a fit up Wednesday. Excited to see how it looks http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/14945/IMG_0029.JPG http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/1...

Re: b25 Bracket design
Looks like this is covered but I build a bracket for my 28 Bert that is in a thread on the first or second page. The entire build is outlined on the bateau thread which is linked in the subject thread, I think. I extended the stringers through the transom on mine. Did a lot of calculations before I ...

Re: Front Deck issue with new motors
Ford, if it were me I would build new hatches. Sounds harder then it is and my bet is easy then what you are contemplating. Make temporary molds with melamine and turn Down a deeper lip. I have one of these molds in my garage right now building replacement hatch for my neighbors mako. Only question ...

Thanks yannis, the pipe work is about 200 lbs based on weight/ft. The glass will total about 300lbs. We moved it as you see it and it wasn't too bad.

Re: B28 being converted to center console
Haven't updated the progress here in a while sorry! Tower is being built by Birdsall marine design. Been there two weeks and probably have a week to go. Loving the build! There are a lot more progress shots on the bateau site if anyone is interested http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/14945/I...

Re: B28 being converted to center console
The inside of the console is a fluid design as of this point. Essentially what was he entire cabin area floor is under there. The area under the cockpit sole, between the console and seat is rigging and controls. My thought is to have a large tackle locker, a counter top and cabinets and a head. Tha...

Re: B28 being converted to center console
Thanks guys! Yea gap tower sounds weird but essential a deck mounted, walk around tower that has a 30"-42" gap between the hard top and the platform you stand on. More or less marlin tower vs tuna tower?? This is a video of it running. The props are undersized right now (19P). At 6000 see is running...

Re: B28 being converted to center console
Obviously not for everyone but this is the outcome of this project. Birdsall is building a gap tower for it so close to done. This is my second B28. First was inboard flybridge sportfish that I redid. This one is much different. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/14945/BECD8EE5-6320-4779-8A6...

Corey, this boat might be close to what you are thinking? It is a 25 with single diesel. Don't know anything about it but the guy posted on a thread I have.

Selecting correct transmission ratio
I am a (recent) former bertram owner now rebuilding a inboard skiboat. I have no engine or tranny so I am at ground zero. I have an opportunity for a zf 45 that is a 1.5:1. These things typically have a 1.25:1 in them so I am not sure if beyond a prop change I am going the wrong way. Are there any r...

John, The tapping sound on start up could be the fuel pump vent hose. My 351s have made that noise when the mechanical pump is bad. That could lead to loss of power as well if the pump was not pushing the required volume. If it has been sitting for a while I would rebuild carbs. I just went through ...
