Hatch gutter drains
I have a Glass Tech cockpit deck. The hatch gutters do not have drains. What is the best way to drain them? Can they drain overboard? Other options into a sump with a pump or just into the bilge. Other questions are what size hoses and what kind of fittings.
Thank you,
Jim

Re: Time Until Issue vs New Fuel Tank
I ran mine for at least a year before I had issues, but the issues were expensive. Tearing down the engines, 4 rebuilt heads. I wish I had replaced the tank before the damage was done.

Re: Regis.....I would like to POLL the audience
We had a 38' wide body with 903's It would cruse about 15 kts. We sold the engines to a guy in Costa Rica who liked them because you could rebuild them in the boat. I have no experience with that. But if true could be an advantage. Replaced them with Volvo's TAMD 63's if I recall. The boat was much ...

A very good friend of mine is President, of Nordhavn, and a founder. I have been on many of their boats. These are very good guys, and very good boats. If anyone needs any info let me know. He gave me the cad drawings of the 76' twin screw sport fisher to critique before that built is, knowing that ...

New Fuel Tank
Well, after rebuilding the top end of both engines, installing a new alum. tank, with Alumiprep and Coal Tar Epoxy, took the boat to Catalina last weekend and it ran great. Wish I would of listened to you all and replaced the tank before I had to rebuild the engines, live and learn. Looked into the ...

Thanks everyone. Yes, the machine shop doing the heads said the stuff was really difficult to get off. They had never seen it before. Still looking at tank options, you may be right about the E15 issue with new fiberglass tanks. Is it safe to run the boat for a couple of weeks before new tank? Tanks...

I think ethanol got me
Having a '79 FBC with no problems thought I might be safe. Wrong! Tore down Starboard engine, one bent push rod, tore down port engine, one broken pushrod. Looks like no damage to pistons, cams, etc. Valve job, and new fuel tank. Talking to Alex W. about fiberglass tank. Getting quicker at getting h...

I agree with JP Dalk, Your priorities should be #1 safety, how is your fuel system, electrical system , etc, etc. #2 reliability, sound like you have some issues there, cosmetic, pods, etc come at the end of the list. I have had my 31 for 10 years, and am just getting to the cool stuff.

Manifold Bolts
I'm about to remove risers and manifolds from 454's. I think I remember hearing that the best procedure is to use an impact wrench. Is this correct? Does it help remove difficult bolts? Trying to avoid breaking any.

class action suit
Just read that a law firm has filed a class action law suit against all of the major oil companys. Class is California boaters who have purchased fuel with ethanol, and Calif. boaters who have damage done to fuel tanks, and engines due to ethanol. Let me know if anyone would like more information on...
