Re: Chair rods

Personally .... it's all about standup gear ... get a good belt/plate combo . and safety lines for the rods .. leave the chair at home

I have this one , and like it a lot .. we use them on Giant Bluefin with spinning rods

Welcome aboard.. and good luck with the project .... don't listen to these guys .. they have real boat envy ..... RLDT's (rolling little death traps 31 Berts) are the short bus's of the yacht world .. and our 34's are near the top of the food chain .....

Don't worry .. it's a Bertram thing ... noses in the air and all that ... if you need to know how much the 61 costs.. you obviously cant afford it .... the Hatteras people.. on the other hand would go out of their way to make you feel like part of the family .. even once you told them you had a 31' ...

All of what you say is true..... Re: 2020 Repower

Pete, Here's my take ... look at what the market is bearing for a finished 31 in both gas and diesel .... and cost compare it to what your all in number is going to be . the refit plus repower both as gas .. and diesel.... I'm doing that with baby hat ... I know what the refit is going to cost me .....

Funny thing about the prop calculator...with the available info , and even making stuff up (gear ratio/existing prop sizes/hp/total weight ) ... there isn't a lot of performance difference between the various props (on the basic calculator) 20-22knt cruise @4100 , around 20-2...

Have a mech do a full check with leak down to confirm they are worth keeping .. and then swap to EFI????? ... or buy those 170 yanys on a different thread (btw, someone was selling a couple of efi mercruisers with low hours for around 12k with gears.. they were doing a diesel conversion)

Re: Newbie, Yanmars 175 hp. In B31

what are the 170's worth on the market? My thought would be that the cost upfront , and long term to lighten the boat and keep it that way as you refine it might be offset .. certainly the lack of "speed" will always be an issue for you and future buyers (in my opinion)

[ Maybe that is why Jim Curly changed them out. I remember when he did that, he was one of the first to go with Yanmars up hear in NJ and everyone talked about it. But he had a car dealership, and access to a lot of this stuff at dealer cost so not so bad for him to do it back then. Jim Curly?? LOL...
