Re: Coosa
Thanks, I appreciate the advice and experience. I only want to do the project once. Verticals will be FRP from McMaster and the horizontals will be Coosa. Most connections will be thru bolted.

Re: Coosa
Thanks, I was surprised how porous it is. Everything is below deck so I’ll just skin it with one layer. I followed your build and look forward to seeing pictures when it’s out of the yard.

Coosa
I’m starting to build the structure for a new deck and purchased some 3/4” Coosa 26 to replace the original one by lumber. This is the first time I’ve used anything synthetic. I plan to skin any bulkheads with glass but wanted to know what everyone was doing with other pieces. Can it just be painted...

Re: Xtra Dry
Doc and his son Doug talked me into purchasing my 31 and following this site. I loved his stories about the good old days of sport fishing, many of which were about faithful members who are also lost. I thought those of you who had the pleasure of meeting him would appreciate reading his obituary. I...

Mine are off the boat so I can measure them tomorrow. They’re 1 3/8” but I believe the Cats were installed in 92 so they may have been bored out/thin walls cutlasses.

I’m not a paint expert but it sounds like your new two part paint may be interacting with an older one part paint. Is it possible that someone may have repainted that area of the bridge with something like Brightside to redo the nonskid?

Re: Collar style Shaft Zinc Anodes Slipped
I had them go the opposite direction and jam in the shaft log when I bumped the port engine in reverse 50 miles off the beach. We thought we dropped the gears and limped home on one engine. From that point on we always take a grinder to the flat surface of the seam on both halves. Not sure if that c...

Re: Winter project! Re-arming my inflatable life jacket
We manually inflate ours every year. I’ve had the valves on the manual inflate tube fail and the seams where the bladder is folded dry rot. Let it sit overnight to make sure you don’t have a slow leak, inspect the CO2 cartridge and replace the dissolving tablet before you repack it.

I run a 31 sportfish with NA 210 hp 3208's. Loaded heavy with enough crap to stay for a month on an overnight, we make 17/18 knots. Running light we cruise at 19 and can hit 21 WOT. Hope that helps.

Re: Cockpit Deck/Fishbox Layout
Marlin, do your fish boxes hang from the drain edges like the Capt's? I'm considering making a cradle to hold self contained boxes so the hatches are independent. Anyone else made them separate?

Cam, good luck with the paint. The layout looks great. If you find yourself fighting the addiction to use that 80 grit after your fresh paint comes back just let me know. Thanks Tony, I'll reach out for him. Those big heavy engines are great for the ride, but they are also the reason there's no space under the boxes.

Has anyone successfully been able to route their twin riser NA 3208 exhaust to the outside? I'm just starting to learn a little about back pressure and the importance of keeping the exhaust simple, but I'd really like to get fish boxes under the deck.

Thanks, I've followed a lot of your individual builds.
Bob - I have your deck build printed, but I wasn't sure if you glassed the three panels first and used the router to cut the hatches after they had been laid up.

I'll be happy if we can figure out the three panels let alone a single seemless deck. Wharton Creek is like Picasso - we're more like finger painters.

We're going make our own three piece deck with the Captains drains. For those of you who have done it, do you lay the glass up on the three panels then router the hatches out or cut the hatches out of the Coosa and lay them up separate?

Gen is an Apollo (Kubota) 3.75 kw. It's coming out as well. It needs a raw water pump and paint. Family wants something quieter, but I think I'll just stick with it until it dies. They are 210 and the guys at T&S said they know of commercial boats with 30,000 hrs. Like most marine engines they seem ...

I'm gearing up for retirement so that slow cruise is ok for me. Two in college and one to go so new power, however it looks, isn't an option. If it's on a bracket it'll be attached to Regulator or a Yellowfin. Cockpit Space has never been much of an issue, but I like Capt Pats boxes to get bags and ...
