Pete----what is your plan for the deck? I think I have a GlassTech ---but not sure who is still in business and what they are making.
You may want to check with L & H-----they have done a number of boats using the deck they use on their own 33----it may be a one-piece.

Not sure about the quest to replace all wood, especially mahogany---seems to have a long lifespan and holds screws/bolts very well.
I do understand the need to add aluminum to beef them up for the higher torque of diesels.....

For the standard battery box without cover----does anyone use tie downs? I am using Group 27----and they can move around----I looked at
mounting trays but there is just not enough room to mount 2 in the box.

You could try L & H in Stuart----generally they do total rebuilds---maybe they do repowers.
They have done many 31 Bertrams and their own boats are usually powered with Cummins.

Peter---if the boat is in the water---you are probably better off to drop it off at Dickson's ---let them pull the motors and whatever else that can be done----then truck it over to Raybo for their work. You will probably have to transport it back to Dickson's for the engine install.

Peter----understand you have the smaller tank----just going to the larger tank may resolve a lot of your problems----you won't be able to run the 100 square but 50 miles will not be an issue.

I still have not been able to source the correct windscreen----even with mine to use as a template----the plexiglass fabricators can not reproduce the unique bubble design-----this requires a drape mold-----Capt Pat went to the trouble to make one---but I can't locate the fabricator he used that may...

My understanding is Monel is a stronger material----is it still available? If you went to 1 1/2 and switched to Monel would that be an option?

Most gas boats have 1 3/8 shafts----I think very early gas boats had 1 1/4 -----some of those early boats were running 1: 1 gears as well.
I believe the struts used with 1 3/8 shafts can be upsized and used for 1 1/2 shafts.

I never fished a 26 but have fished 31 / 28 / 25------I can tell you the 28 was the worst----pretty sure the 26 hull is very close to the 28.

I had a similar experience with my borg warner transmissions---I traced the problem to the tranny----the detent ball was jamming in the shift lever.
Lubricated it and the problem disappeared.

I would consider other material than starboard, which is very heavy and holds dirt over time and does not hold paint.
I am not sure the material that was used on mine as it was over 20 years ago-----some type of fiberglass or composite----they were painted with Imron to match my boat.

Again my boat is pretty light---two different travel lifts put it abt 11K lbs--------Borg Warner 1.5:1 reduction---3 blade Michigan Equi-Poise --18 x18--tip cup. 2600 RPM 24 MPH 21 KNT 2800 RPM 26 MPH 22 KNT 3000 RPM 28 MPH 24 KNT 3200 RPM 30 MPH 26 KNT These #'s indicate a very low slip 17-18%-----...

I have 454 carb motors---and see similar #'s as Stephan---"From 20 to 24 knots I get +- 1 NM/Gal. (2,600 RPMs to 3,100 RPM) for those speeds."----- my boat is also light----even with a full tank mine chines are above the water--- I think weight is the key to get good performance from gas motors----t...
