I thought some had a tank forward as well?
I could very well be wrong as I dont pretend to know all the bits and pieces of every boat.

I remember a year or so ago people making a big deal over some limited edition Coke-a-cola that was made the old way. I never did get a chance to try one out, I now drink diet anyhow, the sugar kills my stomach. But I can eat a pound of cookies- go figure? Right now im off cocktails and beer, lost m...

Bob- just to clarify, 4200 is NOT UV resistant, neiter is 5200. The off-white color of a bertram will hide this at first but as the sealant gets older it will yellow further. If someone was also to use teak and get teak cleaner on the 4200 it will turn even more as it is not resistant to teak cleane...

Andy, I'm guessing that I picked the right face for your avatar. Just picked the one that looked most like a pilot... I had 2 Cobras buzz my place a couple of days ago and take a closer look at the B31 I'm working on. Got waves from both crews. Last year it one lone Blackhawk. Did the same flyby & ...

Bob- make sure once installed you pay extra attention to the windscreen, being that it is gelcoat it will not hold its color and gloss as well as the paint around it. Try to wax it once a month or even more if you can. Would not be a big deal if it was seperated a little more, like if you ordered a ...

Bob, Bill's original windshield was one offed to fit a particular boat. He then made a mold of the windshield before installing it. By the same token that the aluminum frames for one B31 won't be an exact fit on another B31, neither will his fiberglass windshield be an exact fit on your B31. Anothe...

I wont pretend I did the vinyl, we had the guy who made all the custom cushions for the v-berth and the u-shaped couch do the vinyl. He was not happy about doing it, harder and harder to get anyone to spray glue inside a boat. Its not rocket science. Only thing I did were the side filler panels to h...

its not that expensive, this application it is not used to step on. If your thinking of it for the deck I advise you to use something else. at this time it does not look like the day it went in, boat has been sitting and got quite dirty, his boat has no door or canvas, the boat is always open. the good thing about putting vinyl or carpet is that you dont have to remove all the old glue. We are doing that right now on a 25 Bertram and its disgusting work, going to fair and paint the hull sides on that one. Forget ebay for getting the vinyl, go to your local shop and pick some up and suppor...

If I give advice, I give it knowing that it is solid advice. You can take the advice or leave it, thats up to you, and I always like to think that someone asking questions gathers the advice of a few people and comes to thier own conclusion. As for the skaters- I work on them from the late 80s, no p...

and if your awlgripped or imron bilge is peeling it was not prepped properly, you can put either over raw glass and it will stick as long as you clean and scuff the glass, you can put either over gelcoat but the gelcoat must be scuffed and cleaned. both will tolerate being submerged, it might get so...

DuPont releasing Imron and other marine finishes
DuPont is in the process of releasing thier line of Marine Finishes, it has been around a short time but it has been very quiet. I believe its "official" release might be the IBEX show next month. For years people have used Imron and other DuPont products, we have been spraying Imron since the day i...

I think Bob was just venting about his issues trying to shoe horn a motor into his boat. Bob- I know who makes those scuppers on the boat, I have seen them before. The Mako is now fine, we not only raised the deck we removed over 150 pounds, which on that boat was huge. The owner is beyond happy tha...

You seem to have all the answers Bob, so need for us! But to further explain- when you have a deck LOWER then the waterline of the boat you no longer have a boat that bails on its own, there will be water on the decks and then you are relying on bilgepumps to keep you afloat if there is a storm or y...

Bob we go through this alot with different boats, the bracket will not have enough bouyancy to counter the weight of the bracket itself and the motor to make the boat sit as if it came from the factory. If the boat is going to be a trailer boat then it might not be so bad, but on some boats- and I w...

bob- 250etec ho weights under 510lbs, 100 pounds off the back of the boat is huge in my opinion. I went through all this picking a motor for our whaler project, weight was a big issue so we went with the 250 etec. It is a great motor and the owner does not drive it gently. im going to go off topic a...
