That is likely Mischief, heading to or from Fishers Island. They have a complete canvas dodger operation on the flybridge. It belongs to Dick and Elizabeth Miller. They go between NY City and Fishers Island and prefer to spend the time in the Bertram rather than in the car, avoiding the bridge traff...

If you are talking about the bottom, it depends on the condition. Major open areas should be spot repaired with epoxy. Once the substrate looks good and is sanded to 80 grit, then the Interprotect goes straight on. I have been hearing good things about a vinylester barrier coat that you may hear mor...

I just finished my 1962 25 Sport Convertible. There are extensive pictures in the discussion thread Proud New Owner on the 25bertram.com site. I sanded off the awlgrip over gelcoat down to leaving just enough of the original gelcoat to see the color (dark blue.) I used a Fein 6" sander/vac combo - g...

To get a good signal out with a SSB you need a serious grounding facility. A regular grounding plate will not give you adequate grounding for the ground wave which dramatically reduces propagation. I do not know why you want a SSB unless you'll be listening more than sending. And, be aware the anten...

I do a lot of offshore navigating in an ocean racer (sailboat). As the old saying goes, a man with one watch always knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure! Same is true with compasses. Swinging a compass is not that hard. Look in an old Chapmans and the procedure is spelle...

Mini-Craft in Florida
Try http://www.minicraft.com/aboutus.htm. These folks are the real deal and have a very helpful staff able and willing to answer questions. I used Cooks Composites gel coat with Dura Tec in it I bought from Composites One in RI, but there are lots of ways to use gel coat to fill dings and scratches....

Tanks
I've just ordered new tanks for my 25. I met at my boat with the salesman from Luthers in RI and he took an old tank back to the factory. Luthers is the major tank builder around here - all the yards recommend them - so I went with them. They'll be putting tabs along the inside edge where the tanks ...

Fishers Island Bertrams
There are actually 7 31s on Fishers. Kandi Sanger just got hers back after a new deck was installed. Opus One had the original top cut off and a tower installed and when they got tired of that they sent it to the guys in the Chesapeake who did a two year rehab along with the new deck and yanmars. It...

Paint and Coating
One great option is spraying on gel coat. Lots of colors available from Cooks Composites. However, I am using awlgrip on the interior portions of my project B-25 (1962 boat) because while gel coat is robust and shiny, it is hard to polish out after installation. Areas with lots of curves and corners...

These folks in Canada build stuff out of true marine grade materials - bronze and SS. I have some of their stuff and it is bulletproof. It is a little difficult to find, but give 'em a call and be happy ever after!
