From the Manasquan Inlet to Montauk (straight shot) and then on to Newport is about 170nm.

From the same starting point going the Long Island Sound route to Newport is about 205nm.

I have done the Point Pleasant Canal.

I do exactly the way Randallll does with the intake hose in a five gal bucket. Fill the bucket, stick the water hose in the bucket and start the engine. Make sure you've got plenty of water coming out the hose 'cause them BigBlocks will suck it up in a New York Minute!

It was nothing like the tv said it was gonna' be. Yesterday I doubled on the dock lines. The wind was SE and this is not a good place to be but it's my slip. I did see a marine forcast with seas to 18'. The tide was maybe three ft above normal so it was of no consequence. Only 1.5 inches of rain.
