Those engines are raw water cooled. Take em to salt water and they'll start to deteriorate quickly. 454 has a thin wall in the head that salt water loves to munch on.

Can't figure why toyo would allow a system glitch on low voltage without shutting it down first unless its just another idiot lite function like the oil lite to tell the driver to pull over, your engine is about to self combust.

About 50% of those control systems were as you describe Rocky and where most diesels are today. All of those systems have a default on low voltage that shuts down somewhere in the 11.5 vdc. Never saw a 6LP with glazing issues, but it does need to be run out from time to time. 3900 top rpm loaded makes a great 3400 to 3600 top cruise rpm. If you don't need that speed all the time, its okay though. Someone is more apt to develop carbon issues before they develop glazing given modern ring...
