Signs of deck rattle could also be vibration from the running gear or questionable alignment or engine mounts transferring and making anything loose vibrate. Might be worth an inspection.

On carb engines I always set neutral idle at 750. In gear shouldn't drop more than 50 rpm for 700 with the prop size spun on 31's. Something changed with Firefox. Used to use them exclusively but started have issues with it back in feb especially in windows 8.1, a dog of an operating system.
Switched to chrome and issues went away even though I hate everything google.

If your talking the sealand system with the plastic tank, the duck bill ck valves in the pump and the diaphram at the vac switch on the end of the tank were the two most common leak points.
The bowl seal can be tested by placing water in the bowl and if it goes away, the bowl seal is bad.

My hands are so banged up, the man card has no fear of leaving.
It takes me 45 minutes a night to clean the grease and grime off my hands. And then there still is a Michael Jackson shade of dark left over.
I ordered some 9 mil. Will try those.

The 3/8 sea star hoses are 3/8 OD which makes the inside even smaller and with that volume head a minimum of 1/2 or 5/8 ID line is required. I would change the head if they agree. Don't forget to make sure if you change the head it has the right size pressure relief valve assy in the system for that...

Won't comment on "special privledges" for NYPD other than during the 80's and 90's I worked on a bunch of boats for millionaire NYPD detectives who retired in Florida at an early age. I believe they were mostly from the narcotics division.
