Pats live well didn't include the aquarium view style. It would be a solid side all around. I guess you could cut a hole in it and do a piece of lexan.

Take em to a machine shop and have them bead blasted. Its cheap vs trying to clean with a wire brush. I wouldn't buy new. theres enough old stuff around yards and shops next to nothing

Anything with teeth count is off the flywheel that uses a magnetic pickup in the flywheel housing. The 3208 uses a mechanical drive off the camshaft on the front of the engine to a pulse generator output to drive the tach. Camshaft spins 1/2 speed of the engine rpm. 2:1 ratio. If your batteries are properly sized along with the cables and kept topped off in charge, voltage should not drop off enough to shut down electronics. If you do have an issue, start on battery 1 then move switch to both to charge batt 2 or use what Tony suggested and just leave switch on batt 1. If ...

Any type of solar charge will keep the batteries up, but say a hose leaks and the pumps start cranking it won't come close to keeping up with the current draw if that enters your mind.

There should be no grinding sounds comming from the glands even dry. It could be barnacles inside the boot/shaft , shaft/tube(rubbing on side) space dried out and breaking up.
