Most all the 28 gen set installs I saw were between engines. It can restrict access to inboard sides and aft of engines. They all were rusty from deck leaks at the center to main hatch overlap. Not much of a gutter there. Two had pulled an engine and put outboard and moved batteries to opposite side...

Most of my diesel conversions over the years were not done for fuel pricing. Like any bubble, the gas to diesl conversions on mid 20 to 40' boats was driven hard from mid 90's to 07. That bubble burst. Unless you just want to do the work and enjoy doing your own thing, it would be cheaper to buy one...

+1 with Tony's suggestion. I would not put 90 fittings in to turn a tight corner. I would make a nice radius with the hose. Never had to have the fuel line that tight. You can use 90 fittings in the fuel filter to point down to meet the fuel line.

Might want to have someone determine if the blisters have water behind them to open and let drain and dry out during the summer before the cold weather sets in.
I've had 2 - 31's over the years that had blisters to where the boat had to sit for a few months to dry out before filling.

If you have to pull the choke on to run smooth the engine is running lean.
Either thru the carbs, gasket leak or hose off.
If all three cylinders are in agreement and come up to compression with the same amount of rotation, doubt you have an issue there.

Tony is correct in his statement. The pump will not come on if one has a pure oil spill as the pump senses the conductivity of water.
But if you have an oily bilge mixed with water, it will pump.
