John,
For those small parts you can mix some glass reinforced epoxy resin to a paste and fill the spots. This will allow the screws to bite into some thing.

My dad bought his last boat a 55 Connie, that had been stored in a yard for 11 years tied up in an estate debacle. The yard mechanic had gone thru and pickled everything on board with a bi year visual check. After dad bought the boat, it was put back in the water, all systems serviced and oil primed...

You can have them rebuilt. Just use someone who actually has a flow bench to check them. We use a bunch of Holley and Edelbrock (old carter style) carbs. Today's quality is questionable like many things. If you go with Holley, factory standard gaskets will seep. Make sure they are the upgraded blue ...

That 3 amp fuse comes off the ignition switch and feeds the instruments so the issue would be after the fuse which would be the instruments. Look for moisture, chaffed wires, loose wires shorting or it could be internal to one of the gauges. Plug one guage in at a time till you find the one that pop...

Use a remote crank switch, amazon, local auto parts store.
Leave the ignition off and one end of switch goes to starter batt, the other to yellow wire on starter which is crank. Make sure throttle plates are open when conducting check.

If its a collapsing lifter, could throw a push rod and just lose a cylinder. If it's crud built up on a valve stem, valve could stick open and hit piston. A spring issue could lose a keeper and drop a valve into a piston.
You can try an additive in the fuel and oil.

Those switches can come normally open or normally closed.
You want normally open, closing upon oil pressure. Did they give you the correct one?
Jump the switch like Rawleigh suggested to check.

Mack, One sure way to diagnose fuel issues is put a pressure guage between fuel pump and carb and run till you have the issue. If the engine quits and there is good pressure, not fuel. If it quits and fuel pressure is dropping off, then back track to fuel pump, blow lines out and check rubber sectio...
