The Post is one step up from the Star, or the National Inquier. After reading the article, it is less about specific information concerning the new regulations and more about his failed attempt at humor and sensationalism. This is why American journalism SUCKS! Will this effect off road fuel as well...

The reason for a return line in a diesel is that it does not use all the fuel that is fed to the injection system. This can be because the fuel is also used as a coolant or that more is delivered than what is needed. Not all engines circulate the same amount of fuel. Some dribble out the return. Som...

Most of what you see in hull failure today is the result of chasing the speed demon. Light weight hulls coupled with high output engines running thru water that's as hard a concrete when torpedoing a wave. Or the stress factor that has been stated already ripping the seams open. I've turned down som...

peter, replace the gauge, it is an essential piece of equipment. I would also replace the tire valve, cheap and the rubber gasket seal will go bad and leak. Make sure you have a cap on the tire valve. If you let the system air out to replace the guage, as long as you get it replaced within 1/2 hour,...

Tony, No shaft upgrade in most cases. Lower speed diesels require larger size props thus the heavier shafts to handle the twisting torque from the higher pitch prop blades. Everyone, I got all your emails and am going thru them to see what looks good. I did forget one thing. They have a flywheel mou...

About the only thing with the Teleflex is keeping the fluid topped off,(will evaporate over time) and watch the seals for leaks at the helm(weak...

Mike, I havn't had a problem with that in marine applications. You might try taking some 30 grit paper and rough up the surface where the hose goes on and use ABA clamps. I always wipe the hose and surface with denatured alcohol when assembling. Last resort would be to use some permatex red aviation...

mikey, I would use surge tubes on your application with no mufflers. They do work. Second if I were doing the job you are in adding a larger fuel tank, I would put the boat in the water to reference the water line with a full tank, deck and engine boxes laid in the boat. You don't want them under wa...

Don't use chlorine tablets in your strainers to keep cooling systems clean. Rawleigh, Yes you can use the old running gear due to the higher rpm/torque range that Peter touched on. Thus the lower installation costs. Velvet drives have been reused in a situation where the the engine was jack shafted. Otherwise the angle needed to mate to the shaft would place the diesel on t...

Volvo posted useful life
I was looking over the new 260 CR Volvo's delivered to the shop today for a 31.
In reading the label on the engine next to model and serial it had a line that stated "Useful life". 1000 hours or 10 years.
1000 hours?
That kinda sucks. Glad it wasn't my recomendation to use the Volvo's.
