Dick,
You just have to pop hatches and look for the leak. I would start at the cylinder.

While ATF works, steering fluid is much better for the system and will result in easier wheel movement if the system is set up properly.

I wouldn't add any weight until its loaded with all your gear and you run sea trials.

Having the chine below the water with full fuel is common.
Exhaust outlets and water vary also.

Most all those valves are made of a cheap cast brass. Seals and seats are cheap material also. Threads are shallow and the material between the female thread pitch and outside wall is thin and leads to cracking.

The two part body threads have the same problem.

Not safe.

I hate to disagree with you Vince but do not use any valves from home supply stores.

The quality and resistance to solvents is not there to be used in a fuel system. Okay for water, but not fuel.

Matt, A 4" angle grinder with a 6" disc in 80 grit and a lite touch will take the paint off in no time. The way to measure packing is undo the nut and measure from the outside of the shaft to the inside of the gland. That distance is your packing size. It will be standard US fractional measurements....

I think for the most part, forecasts are a generalization and subject to be 50% wrong.

I meant to look at the various sat photos including water vapor, frontal movements and combine that with the typical weather patterns for the time of year.

If you can slide the shaft back to get a socket and ratchet on, you can remove the output flange. You will have to make a tool to hold the flange by the bolt holes.

Replace the seal and the crush sleeve and torque to specs.

The external wedge shape intake strainers with the round holes are all thats needed.

Anything with the slots will allow debris to enter the system and are only designed to keep large debris out and an internal strainer should be used with those.

If you have 3/8 pipe fittings on the pickup, use a 3/8 close nipple into 1/2 full flow valve with a 1/2x3/8 bushing on the end.

Out the other end of the valve go with the 1/2 fitting.

This will cause you no trouble.

Up to 8' 6" no permit required.

8' 7" to 10' the permit is 20 bucks for a year.

10 to 12' the permit is 330 bucks per year.

The guy who brought Gerry's 31 to the shop on his trailer had no permit or wide load banner.
