Bob, Yes, seen them in detail. Been on and off the market due to problems. Last one not too long ago was pulled due to potential fire hazard. Rumor has it that BMW, the maker of the engine is going to stop production for Yanmar. I wouldn't touch one if it was free. Maybe 3 years down the road after ...

Mike, While I don't charter, I work for a bunch that do. "Unlicensed" is very common here in my area and enforcement is just about nill. Don't know whether that's because of the proximity to the Bahamas and they're more interested in smuggling than busting a guy trying to make a living. One good thi...

Factory paint sucks. Like any paint job, prep is the key and majority of time put in. Make sure no dust or dirt, light scuff with a 3m pad, blow off with air and don't use any solvent cleaner sprays. Will lift the enamel paint right off. Then your really screwed. They don't use a base primer like ev...

Yes they will fit fine. The DTE's are 250hp. You will need to get different gears if you want to get out of your own way. 1.5:1 is not what you want. You want 2:1 boxes behind those high speed engines. Do yourself a favor and pay a Yanmar CERTIFIED mechanic or dealer to check them out well. Twin dis...

It's not the boat to have guests come by and then sit inside over a nice glass of wine and converse. Depends on the interior design. As a kid my dad had an old train set that ran off low voltage AC. When the transformer went bad he used a variac. It went from 0 to about 130vac. My brother being older and somewhat wiser had me put my hand across the 3 rails and he cranked the voltage up to max. He sat there watching and laughing h...

Frome Newsweek magazine. Mike Adamson remembers when water wasn't such a problem. As a kid growing up on his family's cattle feedlot along the Colorado-Kansas border, "you could dig a post hole and see water runnin' in the bottom," he recalls. Today, Adamson is 48 and in charge of the family busines...

Engine performance
It often gets over looked and forgotten. It's very easy to perform and check, for most engines. It's one thing I stress to owners to check every 500 hours or one year. It's part of a geometry (here is where your grade school math teacher was correct) that keeps your engine running smooth and at top ...

Depends. If you have the original 1-1/8 shafts and don't want to spend the money to upgrade, then you'll need the 1.5:1. 1-1/8 shafts are not really up to handling the larger propeller torque of the 2:1. Those are high rpm as over 4200 engines. Conventional thinking changes some. Sean, You would see...

I bought a couple of these Mora's some time ago, but never tried them.
Heavy stainless blade, great grind, comfortable handle, 32 bucks.
Used it over the weekend for everything from prying to cutting.
Will be adding it to the tool box for everyday use.

Just a note to say the Q tabs work really well on the 31 and look good compacted against the transom vs the way standard planes stick out the back.
Unfortunately you will not be able to use the excuse that the tabs cut the line and my fish got away.
