Vicroy, I mean a fixed half tower on a FBC. I am sure a Bimini top boat will work, but they seem to be few and far between on yachtworld. My 35' has no sun protection, which is fine for OR tuna fishing, but it gets pretty hot in Cabo, so I need a bimini at the minimum. A hardtop with an enclosure wo...

Thanks for all the great info guys. As I would be only going 5-10 miles in Cabo, I am not too worried about anything but damaging the boat. Any idea what how tall a 31' with a hardtop would be? It sure would be nice to have a hardtop and most of the boats I see on yachtworld seem to have hardtops. T...

John,

Thanks for the info.

That would be great if I could get a 31' with a hardtop that would meet my height requirements.

Any ballpark number on what a trailer runs?

Thanks,

Mike C

Heigth on trailer

I just got back from marlin fishing in Cabo and I have the bug pretty bad (hooked 25 our last day). I have a 24' boat down there now, but would really like a bigger flybridge boat. I don't want to pay for moorage ($2K a month) for my 35' Bertram that I keep in OR, so I am looking at a 31'. My storag...

Capt Dick, I have not ruled out the 35, but the seller has not come down much in price and I don't want to pay too much on a boat I will have to spend $14K shipping across the country. I will use the boat pretty much only for tuna fishing 40-50 miles off of the Oregon coast. I will never spend the n...

Hyena,

Thanks for the info.

Their top speed and cruise speed seems pretty optimistic to me, but I don't know much about diesel engines.

Anyone want to guess on fuel economy?

Opinion on Covington Diesels in 31 Bertram

There is a 31 Bertram for sale that is close enough for me to run it home, so I am starting to rethink purchasing a 35' and paying the $14K to ship it to Oregon. The boat has Covington diesels http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listing/boatFullDetails.jsp?boat_id=1583258&ybw=&units=Feet¤cy=USD&acc...

Thanks for all the info guys. Sorry about the tie- I only wear it to make money to pay for my bikes, boats, and cars. I was pretty amazed to see someone went through all the trouble to pull my photo off my ambulance chaser webpage. I think I am going to go with a "done" boat and save the time and gr...

Newbie questions on refit costs

I am looking at two 35' Bertrams and I am trying to figure out what is the best way to go, a boat that is totally done (I am leaning this way) or a boat that needs some work but is $30K cheaper. Both are gas boats with similar motors The refit boat has a new AL tank, glass tech cockpit, salon doors,...

Thanks for all the info guys. I am really debating this boat or another one that is $30K cheaper, has a hardtop and outriggers, but deck rot and the factory glass tank. Anyone have a ballpark figure for deck, tank, salon door replacement? I called glass tech and the person who answered the phone did...

Thanks for all the offers of help.

I found a surveyor with a fair amount of bertram experience who is 15 minutes away and is going to take a look at it for me this week sometime.

Anyone have any good refererrals for cross country shipping?

Thanks,

Mike

Anyone want to look at a boat for me- boat is in Onset MA

I have been lurking on this forum for awhile, but this is my first post. I am going to buy a 35' Bertram this winter and I am really interested in one in Onset, MA http://yachtworld.com/core/listing/boatDetails.jsp?currency=USD&units=Feet¤cyid=100&boat_id=1551709&checked_boats=1551709&back=%2F...
