I'm bringing her to Brewers Marina tomorrow, as I need to be out of the Tappen Beach marina. I may stay in the water through Thanksgiving, but definitely done after that. Brewers will pull and block her for the winter. I'll be deer hunting next week, but any time after that is fine. You don't need m...

Re: [Partially] Hidden Anchor Concept for B31
The good news is also the bad news..... The nice thing about the Sound is that you can pretty much anchor anywhere using practically zero scope (well, 2:1 or less). The muddy bottom just plain holds. The problem with the anchoring in the Sound is that the muddy bottom just plain holds, and half of i...

Re: Azek cockpit sidepanels
I used Starboard on my cockpit side panels, but Azek is just as good or better. It was never particularly important to me to have a self bailing cockpit (I did add several large bilge pumps) but since I spend a bit of time out in the slop on a boat with knee-high gunnels, I wanted toeholds wherever ...

You'll have to drill holes in the rudders for zincs. There will be anodes in the engines, the heat exchangers, and possibly the transmissions. Go on line and look for service manuals for your equipment.

Consider surge tubes. Another $50 adds a load of protection against hydrolock, bent valves, and a missed season.

Mike, By "stringers", do you mean any built-in (glassed) lateral supports under the deck, for rigidity? Not the keel stringers, right? Correct. Floor joists might be a more accurate description. The teak is often set on marine plywood, just like the wood floor in a house. If it's done thoughtfully,...

Many teak decks are put down in sections. There's usually a black caulk seam which is covering the screw heads...... You gouge up the calk to expose the screws. Remove the screws and the sections lift out. Open a hatch. Measure the distance (underside of the deck) from the edge of the hatch opening ...

We all pay anyway. That's where 90% of the tolls collected go. A subway/bus ride costs twice as much as they charge for one. So then they need to scratch for money when it's discovered that they've ignored the maintenance on the bridges and tunnels for 30 years..... Oooops. Let's just raise taxes a ...
