What size are you looking for?

Re: Battery Parallel Solenoid Amperage

As a 'safety first' guy, I'm totally in favor of more gear vs less. I have three solar chargers...... but I have no place to set them up other than in the cockpit. So if i was 70 miles out and tied to a lobster pot, and woke up to dead batteries, I would certainly use them to charge the gen set batt...

Guys, Excuse me, you’re intelligent people...stick a solar panel over the bridge and FORGET about solenoids, capacities etc. For heavens’ sake, in 10 years you will not be able to circulate by car into major cities if it’s not electric. Don't even consider going off shore with that attitude..... Th...

A big hunk 'o iron is a big hunk 'o iron. Ground it anywhere that isn't isolated from the rest of the engine by a piece 'o rubber. Make sure that your new location is clean and free of paint. Re: Keeping sea water out of bilge

There is no retractable model large enough for our mooring conditions... And outrageously expensive, may I add. I've occasionally used 3/4" when there was a hurricane coming, but 5/8" is plenty for these boats. As for mooring, I have removed the cleat from the bow and installed a single bollard wit...

you are both correct and incorrect. the engines in my boat are both gas. at 2900 rpm's the boat will run 19 kts. wide open throttle is 4600 rpm's. the boat will run 35 kts. anything above 3000 rpm's the gas absolutely pours out. that's why i want the diesels. and thank you guys for your comments. Mike, Why is the 9DB useless in close? Does it step on everything so that you can not be understood? I'm not 100% sure, but I think of it in terms of a camera lens. With a good camera lens, you can modify the aperture and the zoom. With an open aperture, everything is in focus, but there is little ...

Any way you slice it, and no matter where you are, a boat can sink in 30 seconds. Safety first. Since you're starting from zero, it makes sense to do it once and do it right. Get a GPS and a VHF that can communicate with each other. You can get a distress signal off in 5 seconds, and the coast guard...

Stainless is beautiful but the welds will crack, in time. This can result in anything from just being a constant annoyance to catastrophic failure at the worst possible moment. You can treat aluminum with alodine and then paint, but the paint will peal, in time. Once that starts, there's no stoping ...

Front window is the ticket, but you have to remove the window and remove the door from the fridge. The box should never go bad.... When you settle on one, buy a spare set of electronics and a spare compressor and stick them in the garage.

Four days, five nights with airfare is about $5,700. Three days, four nights is about $5,000. Plus tips.

That's 3 to a boat, fishing offshore. You can spend less if you want to fish inshore, or with 4 in a boat.

Charlie- Looking at your shaft log again it does not appear shiny or freshly worn where it is thin. Might this be the scar of an old insult to the shaft or log and not something you need to address? I agree. You hit a turtle about 70 miles offshore and the shaft log will look like that by the time ...
