I agree. And actually while I'm running out, I also have a bladder with 75 to 100 gallons of fuel on the deck as well. So another 600 pounds all the way aft. Leaving from Hempstead Harbor, it's easily 110 miles to the edge. So I arrive, transfer fuel, stow the bladder, and start trolling.

That does seem pretty low....

I'm guessing that mine are a little higher than that (though not much). One thing that I did was to scallop the bottom of the side and transom panels, so that you can hook your feet under them. Less likely to get dragged overboard.....

In time, aluminum falls victim to corrosion. Salt water in the bilge, electrolysis, etc. Fiberglass pretty much lasts forever, and if you need to repair or modify it, you can do that without a welder.
