I don't know about the hull being any thicker, but so far I haven't found any foam in it. I haven't looked under the floor in the bow yet, but from the helm area back, there's nothing but fuel tank and engine compartment. This boat has a Chevy 350 coupled to a velvet drive transmission, and a Stern ...

No trim tabs, big dog. They cut fishing line. My guess is that the different models are balanced differently. Then you add towers, and all sort of other crap....and who knows. Not all, but most of the 31's I've been on do ride a bit bow proud. And the boat is known to pound in a head sea. A little e...

More surface area means more drag. I believe that three blade props are more efficient. Four blades are smoother, but fine balancing might correct a three blade prop. I find that I get a better wake pattern and nicer clear water area behind the boat with four blade props.....and catch more fish with...

I'm not sure that I agree. I'm guessing that we're talking gas.... Partially filled tank = condensation = water = ethanol phase seperation issues... If you need 200 gallons to spend a day in the canyon, put in a 240 galon tank. Maybe 250 if you're thinking about adding a gen set. Just try to keep ab...

I really do want a 31, but I regularly run 50 miles offshore and I thought the fuel consumption would kill me. Maybe I am misinformed and the big blocks in the 31 burn about the same as the small blocks in the 28? Big blocks are no way to run 50 miles off shore in a 31. You'll be looking at 190 gall...

That is a good question about the detergent blending...and here is another: If ethanol reacts badly with fiberglass tanks and causing troubles in boats, then why are we not seeing that in our cars too? After all most service stations are using fiberglass underground storage tanks. Most stations in ...

I was talking to a local marina owner yesterday, who told me that the 600 gallons of water that he usually carried in his 5000 gallon gas tank had vanished. That means that he had sold the water for $4.00 per gallon. I'm guessing that there isn't a drop of water left in any gas storage tank in e-sta...
