A captain I've mated for over the years that runs approximately 350 trips per year (including some 2/day) said he no longer uses Sureflo. During the summer he runs his pump up to 17hr/s day for multiple large barrel livewells. I can ask him what brand he switched to. He fishes more trips than anyone...

IR, fair enough and I didn't think the thread was being hijacked or even that you were implying a hijack. See how confusing this gets? It's tough to interpret context/intent sometimes online. I really mean it when I say I hope we can all learn from this. I think that applies to your 33's just the sa...

For what it's worth: Designed for today’s heavier, wider outboards up to 350 horsepower, many OEM builders including Concept, Oceanmaster, Proline, and Angler use its transom brackets, which provide better top-end speed with the same power, quicker back-down ability and added space in the cockpit....

The funny thing about this story being sensationalized via the internet is all the people in my neck of the woods, facebooking, etc saying they'll never swim in the bay again. First off, the bay is connected to the ocean so of course sharks will be around from time to time. Secondly, many of these p...

Back when trout came in the bay, my dad and I had one fishing trip in particular where we pulled up many trout heads, but no bodies. I was probably about 8-10 and this was around 1990. We thought for sure there was a shark around waiting to make an easy meal of our fish. Of course there were also 15...

And Bob the depth was my point. A clark or drone spoon would never flutter all the way down for 60 fathoms. The drone is my all time favorite lure for catching spanish, cero and king mackerel. I'm not very impressed with the little clarks but I do like their "Squid spoon" for bluefish. I digress (an...

We used to slow down to a crawl and jig with Clark or Drone spoons just as we would for stripers at Shrewsbury Rocks. Hard work but we would get fish. Got ahead of the school and dropped the lures righth back into them. Sorry for the highjack, but, jigging clark or drone spoons? I troll these for S...

Beautiful fish Bob. One thing you can try on your jigs is to add a ball bearing swivel to your split ring. This provides a rounder solid ring to tie your line/leader to. A very good jigger I know that fishes offshore in the Carolinas has reported less break offs with this. So jealous... fishing on t...

The ideal prop to plan off with a single engine would be a 15pitch Mirage Plus or a 13 pitch Mirage Plus. These are large diameter round ear wheels that are designed for large singles. The Enertia prop is also another great choice but harder to find cheaper. But there is just no need to get those p...

Captbone, I remember the test prop you refer to from my first job at 14. My boss ran the hell out of some motors at the dock with that wheel. I find this to be an interesting and expensive topic. It's much less expensive with input from others that minimizes prop testing. Between this site and conti...

Maybe I'm being too optimistic but the boat can almost get on plane on one motor right now. This is not something we do on a regular basis as it is obviously hard on the motor but we have tried out of curiosity. The advice I received on continuouswave.com was that the general rule for running on one...

I will post this on the continuouswave site as well but I'm curious what you guys think about the following. Two things you will almost surely have to rebuild/replace are the strut pads and the rudder shelves. The strut pads are most likely too small to withstand a grounding or impact of hard submerged/floating objects. Also the strut pads and the rudder shelves are likely wet and rotten. You can repair bo...

Using commercial .223 Remington cartridges in a 5.56 mm NATO chambered rifle should work reliably, but generally will not be as accurate as when fired from a .223 Remington chambered gun due to the longer leade.[15] Using 5.56 mm NATO mil-spec cartridges (such as the M855) in a .223 Remington chambe...

"Thus, while .223 Remington ammunition can be safely fired in a 5.56 mm chambered gun, firing 5.56 mm ammunition in a .223 Remington chamber may produce pressures in excess of even the 5.56 mm specifications due to the shorter throat.[6]"

I bought a used Toyota Tacoma within the last year, which I love, but the previous owner put "pretty" metal valve caps on the tires. During an oil change the shop tried to check my tire pressure and couldn't get them off from the front tires, but did manage to remove them from my rear tires. Any sug...

Scooter, I still have it, sitting in Lusby. I have mixed feelings about getting rid of it although in all reality I won't be installing it again. I would let it go for $200.
