Please disregard the inquiry to the "hyena" origin. I have since been enlightened by the "jersey boat builder" posting.

Although I understand the "hyena" reference, I am apparently too green to understand it's origin or basis. Perhaps someone could provide me with some insight on that one. That being said, thank you all for your input. It does put my mind at ease about the transom. In regards to the steering, I shoul...

weak transom

I pulled my B28 last week and took a look at the bottom and such for the first time since I acquired it. Bottom seemed pretty clean, but I noticed that the transom appeared very weak to me. I've heard before that it is one of the weaker areas, but a gentle bump with the palm of my hand resulted in o...

Thanks for all the responses. To answer Kevin's question, I've got '99 260hp Mercuriser's. As it rides right now, it just starts to plane (w/ full tank) at around 16-17kts and ~3200rpm. Anything less and she's plowing. That seems like a bit of an effort to me. I'm hoping the tachs are off and the bo...

Trim Tab Size

I was wondering if there is such a thing as trim tabs that are "too big" on a B28. I used the thumbrules on the Bennett trim tab site and figured that 9x36 would be adequate. But I was thinking maybe 12x36 to get up on a plane a bit sooner when loaded down. That does seem a bit ridiculous for a boat...

Ken,
I was wondering who quoted you on building the 315 gal tank on LI? And if you got it how the boat ran. Any info at all with your tank replacement would be helpful as I plan on doing the same this winter.

Thanks,
Matt

Bill,

Do you mind me asking why you "cannot" recommend S&P for an aluminum tank? Quality? Customer service? I was planning on going with them. Do you have any advice on what to watch out for, or any other places around here that make a quality tank?

Thanks for the info,
Matt

New FB tank

Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. I did contact Danny for a few quotes. He was very responsive and helpful. I got a quote at $3800 for a new 165gal tank. It seems a bit much compared to the Aluminum, and I like the idea of getting a custom tank with some added capacity. Now, it's just a matter of how ...

Proper Aluminum fuel tank installation

I am the proud new owner of my first boat, a B28. It has 350's and the original glass tank. I knew going into it that I would have to replace the tank this winter, and have searched extensively online for info the pros/cons of glass vs aluminum tanks. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Aluminum, but...
