Re: Gas Powered boats 3 blade vs 4 blade
The chase for higher MPG is non stop with 454s. You are currently seeing 1.1 MPG with twins at 22 knots.. correct? That works out to 10 GPH on each engine. For 454s pushing a 31ft deep Vee, I think that is outstanding. 25% slip is also a decent number on that setup. Imho you may be close to the top ...

What a beautiful boat. It looks like he raised the helm deck level, incorporating the engine boxes under the helm deck. That adds a lot of open, flat deck without having to navigate around boxes, also provides an elevated (better) view.

That boat is exceptionally well done, looks like it was dropped off at Jarret Bay, Merrit, Spencer etc. beautiful custom work. The issue is the dollars vs the size. B28 Hull Drawings?
Hi Guys,
A friend of mine runs a B28 and needs some hull drawings. The marina wants him to have a cradle for yard storage. He operates a fab shop, so building the cradle is no issue.. but finding the drawings has proven difficult. Does anyone have the hull drawings for a 28?
Thanks in advance,
Scot

As mentioned the heads off 12 valve Cummins are all the same except valves, rotators and springs. Find a truck head, use the CPL off your existing engine to get the necessary pieces from Cummins. Any decent head shop can run down the parts from your CPL and install them.
Good luck.

An old boat mechanic told me to install a 1/8” thick washer inside the coupling, between the shaft end and the transmission companion flange. 53 series is the toughest to find parts for. 71 & 92 series still have good support, even from Detroit. Try Stewart & Stevenson, Houston, TX. Ask if they still have the used parts department. They did have a lot of used DD 2 stroke parts.

Cockpit deck, deck drains (scuppers) are an issue with the 25s. More than one boat reported sinking at the dock on the old 25 board. As you are into some heavy glass work, might I suggest a tool. I spent years in the "fiberglass fog" of grinding. The Makita 9031 (1-1/8" belt sander) is a fantastic replacement for that mini-grinder with flapper wheels. The front handle easily comes off and it goes into tight spots the mini-grinder...

I agree with Mike.. "cured is cured". If it sets to non-tacky you are good. In the future, keep a trash bag or some plastic wrap around when you are glassing on cloudy days. If it looks like rain, lay the plastic over the uncured epoxy. Once cured, the plastic will peel right off.
Good luck.
