Transporting b28
Well the 28 is sold but not gone. Replaced fuel tank with 220 gal alum unit, valve jobs on both engines, and tons of other work done for the new owner. Now it needs to be transported to its new home ( about 150 mi away) and I'm wondering if it's possible/feasible to load it on a trailer at a boat ra...

Well the lift tied to the two wood deck supports on the top of the tank did not move the tank one iota!! I'll try again tomorrow. Dick: what did you use to cut yours up ? I have a sawsall, but can't use electric tool, still a little gas left in tank. I used a very small air powered saw to cut the ta...

Thanks for the tips guys. Dick: I'll try your method today, if i can get the aft deck under the lift. Low tide is 9pm today. I'll have to use rope instead of chain, as there is still a bit of gas still in the tank and I don't want a spark !! Does anyone know the approx weight of the empty ta...

CapT Pat: Thanks for the link.Close, but on the drwg of the engine mount repair, use longer bolts, drill a appropriate size hole thru the eng bed at a distance from the top of the bed that is about 3/4" less than the length of the bolt, so that when the bolt is inserted, the threads are visible in t...

Putting engines back in a Cruisers Inc 32? Outboard engine mount bolt holes are enlarged (wallowed out)from years of lag screws not being tight. The engine beds are good, and have been re-glassed, but they glassed over the bolt holes without doing anything about the bolt holes. I'm thinking best way...

Caution!! No quick shifting with air!. It takes time for the air pressure to release from one direction before moving the lever to the alternate position. I've got a video of a 1920's 80' yacht that rammed a boat and then the concrete sea wall at the marina where I had a slip some years ago. I'd pos...

Thanks Scot and Rawleigh, for your suggestions, thats pertty close to what I did on the port engine today. They weren't froze solid as much as junk in the threads was jamming them after about an eighth of a rotation. Kept soaking with penetrating oil and working them back and forth, first with an im...

Thanks guys, for all the replies. Sorry for the spelling, looked it up in my Funk & Wagnals, (which I probably just misspelled) and it's "resurrection" And now, "the rest of the story". The 1000hrs on these engines was put on up north in lake Superior, not down here in the salt swamp. They got busy ...

Vince: The "dark area" in your photos is the sending unit mounting plate, held to the "fuel pick-up plate" by 5 screws. If it was the old swing arm with a float type, it is trash anyway. You need a capacitance type fuel level sender anyway, no moving parts. Made by Centriod products, Edgewater, Fl. ...

I'm thinking of repowering my '75 28 fbc with Cummins 6bta's. Thinking low rpm= economy cruise, high rpm="Holy S&!#"!!!!! top end. Measured my neighbors 31 with the cummins, and it appears they will fit, except for height. will necessitate re-configuring engine hatch area, and it would add about 800...
