It doesn't sound like the 8.1 would be the way to go. But I'm surprised at the prices of gas engines. It looks like new gas engines,FWC, fuel injected in the smaller block engines with transmissions is still going to be around 17k per engine. Will do Tommy but I've expanded my search to include diesel. My lifts only 10000# and I'm going to have to install a new lift either way plus I'm having a hard time finding mobile gas mechanics in my area. I would have never thought that a diesel mechanic would be easy to find.

While I owned a 33 Bertram with 330 Cummins and they were trouble free, I got tired of cleaning aftercoolers every 2 years. That's why I'm interested in gas engines or 210 Cummins. Less stuff = less maintenance= more fun.

Boat looks nice. While I like the 330 Cummins I would rather go slower and not have to deal with cleaning raw water cooled aftercoolers every 2 years. That's why I'm looking at boats with gas or Cummins 210.

I'm not really a speed person but I want to cruise at 20. I was asking because I owned a 33 Bertram with 330 Cummins. Great engines, never gave me any trouble. Because the aftercoolers were salt water cooled, I was told that they needed servicing every 2 years and that got old.

That looks great. Which model is it? I've owned a 25 sport fish with the 470's. At least I think that was the number they were about 175 HP apiece. My dad owned a Sport Fish with the 165 HP. Isn't that what yours are? They were great little engines. I never understood why they quit using them.

My thinking was the same as Carl's. It's not that I'm running hard in shallow water. Because of less dredging in my area we're getting more shoals that I have to cross, that's the reason I see the need for outboards for me.

Micky, I don't remember. But I still have a folder on the boat and I'll see if I can find it. I see that you took the trim tabs off. You really need trim tabs on that boat. I had factory original but I think it may have performed better with bigger tabs.
