Tony,
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Marine Metal Fabricators of RI. Captain Rick Weller and his wife do gods work in aluminum.
You will hear about J&J, but they have been expensive, and won't give you anywhere near the service and interaction that Rick will. He is great.
Tell him I sent ya.

Like Harry, I too have been reading, thinking and have waited to post. Our house is out in the woods, and while the Boylston Police are great and responsive, we learned on December 12 that we really are out here all alone when the ice storm hit and we were without power for 4 days, which was not bad...

Steve, Thanks for the info! I am actually looking to keep bow down a smidge in a head sea. I know, I can slow down, and often do. I have less of a problem with side to side weight distribution. Once again, I am glad I asked the question, and don't have any prejudice against Bennetts. In fact I know ...

Volvo QL vs Bennett trim tabs
Hi all, I have been thinking of adding tabs to Alchemy. I know the Bennetts are excellent, and have watched rave reviews for quite some time. Volvo Penta came out with a different approach called the QL tab fairly recently however, and I like that it doesn't stick out off the transome like an airpla...

The price of fuel is likely to remain lower than it has in a couple of years. That being said, it is time to move from Montauk. Oak Bluffs was a great location, and different. Liz and I really enjoyed exploring a new area to which we had never been. If we are intent on a spot on Long Island, how abo...

I think AZAK may be really similar to Kallite, made by Kal Wall corporation in NH. It is the dimpled fiberglass panelling you see at HD etc. It comes in various sizes and thicknesses, and is very workable, paintable, sandable, etc. That is what I used and my only regret is that I didn't go thicker. ...

They are excellent engines. Particularly for the Bertram 31. I have them in my boat. They run. They are quiet, smooth, no smoke. 4 years and only one real issue, I blew an injector line. I would not call that an engine issue, as I am pretty confident that Yanmar would not be the place that makes the...

Hi all, I have a friend who has recently moved to Southern California (San Diego specifically!). She is looking for a job in the financia...

I absolutly concur about starting over. Forget the original diagram. Run the new, tinned wire to where you need to. Forget the copper pricing anyway, it has completely tanked, and you don't get much for wire anyway. Unless you are homeless or a drug addict, and then it is apparently worth your while...

Walter, I am not an expert, but I have a couple friends who do pretty well. 1) Just west of Seaflower reef there is a shallow spot you can see on the chart. there will be boats there, but that is a good sign. 2) Inside the island there are a series of rocky piles, check the chart... 3) Backside (you...

I used bilgekote and it worked beyond my expectations, and they were high. I had gelcoated, but it was not a gloss finish, and was susceptible to staining etc. very easily. It was a pain in the butt with the wax additive etc. and stunk to high heaven on application. Make sure your substrate is clean...

I believe they are the same for the 28. One is spoken for. They are $350. It is not a serious project. It is held in place with three bolts. A bit of 4200 and you are off to the races. Good morning all! Up here in NE, my boat is out, the leaves are falling, and the temperature is dropping. Any tuna south of long island?
It has been a slow summer for fish south of Long Island as far as I know. The weekend of the Montauk rendezvous was a good burst, and it seemed to tail off. Alchemy is due to come out of the water in two weeks, and I am having a hard time with the fact that we have only been out once due to lack of ...
