I just claimed the whaler [its not that great but at least it floats].
I am looking into the laws now.
Now I wish I did this sooner but with multiple flooded houses I could only handle so much at one time.

Re: Sandy claws left me a mess
Good morning,
it looks like he did not have insurance.
The ocean is now partially sunk [one engine may be under].
It just keeps getting worse, as the owner stalls and now disappeared.
If anyone can explain how to post pics I will share them.

hello all, I have not been on this site for a long, long, time and was saddened when I saw the thread to Vicroy. I have conversed with the man a few times and know he is a great person. I can only hope there is more to life then what we see and some where we get what we deserve. I hope everyone did ...

Thanks everyone for the replies. Rawleigh, I looked at the web address. the one that sounds to good to be true may be. If you look at the picture closely I think I see #8 on one and #4 on the other. I am thinking about the welder cable but I 'm afraid of #4 cable if the engine is over heated or a st...

Hi everyone. I have not been on this site for a while. I hope everyone is doing well. After about 5 years the 28 bertram is finally ready for the water. It actually went in last year for about a month at the end of the season to get the bugs out. Luckily all went well. I am adding a 3rd battery with...

Thanks everyone, I am getting old / I'll say older, the company I dealt with was Navtech they are all about taking in money, not so concerned with the output part. I stopped in Freeport marine. They have the chart for $200.00. I will have to think about it. I have already invested money and have not...

Hi Everyone This boat has been in my driveway for 3+ years. Its time to get wet. Much of the structural work is done. The rest can wait. I may have an opportunity to buy two recent, fuel injection, 5.7 mercruisers. These are standard rotation with one reversing transmission. Does anyone know if they...

Charlie, I loooked at the picture its looks great, but the more I looked at it I realize that if you cut off the top of the double piped arch use one piece for the front of the hard top frame and the other for the rear of the hard top frame and with the pipes already in the bimini top the weight wil...

Thanks for the info. The wet seat is very interesting. I guess if I can keep the added weight to about 100lbs that isn't much of a change. I am between a canvas top or lexan / 1/8" starboard [if available], etc. I guess maybe the white, waxed type canvas is the best choice? It seams to not absorb wa...

Will a hard top increase the roll of a 28 SF?
I want to add a 5' x 7' aluminum top [made as light as possible] with vinyl curtains / sides to my 28 SF.
Does anyone know if this will increase the rock & roll more then a canvas top will?
I would hate to spend the time and money only to find that I made a mistake.
Thanks
Gary

WOW, its amazing all the really good options. I'm going to ask a few questions and then read this post 3 - 400 times before I will be able to decide which way to go. Should all 3 neutrals be joined no matter which set up? Should the neutrals at the block go to bonding? If one engine starts from a pa...

battery & wiring questions
Hi guys, I want to build battery boxes and install new cables. What should I use? I have always used the 24 group battery. 1 battery for the port and 2 for the sb on a [1-2 or both battery switch]. one of the 2 would also handle the electronics. Is #1 cable ok? Should the VHF, Radar, AM/FM, GPS, etc...

Originally I was wondering about the stability of the 28' and was reassured by all of the replies. I wanted to say thanks again to you and your beautiful daughter for the ride on your great running boat. It was similar to the ride of my 23' sport fish seabird [25 years ago] [just better]. Its good to hear all the good news about the 28 [the ugly 28 so I hear]. I have wanted one since I was a kid [about 40 years ago]. Thanks for the resssurance. I am rebuilding a 28 but have never been on one [on a 31 yes]. bertram rollover question
I know all bertrams [deep v's] are known to rock and the 28 is said to be extremely unsteady. My question is how likely is a 28' to roll over if overtaken by a large beam roller compared to a 31' or a 33' bertram or maybe a 29' pheonix. I expect to have this boat for many years but I wonder how safe...
