Hi everyone, On my 28 I have repaired the cockpit deck, installed a new gas tank, repaired the bulkheads, installed new engine stringers, one new rudder shelf, rebuilt a hynautic steering piston, new bonding strip, etc. [I'm learning]. The fiberglass is weak under the bow railing [possibly from the ...

I recently repacked the rudder shafts in my 28. One I dropped and replaced the seized rudder bearing, the other I repacked in place. If the bearings are old the set screws may be seized and stripped. I removed the inplace packing with a nail [I bent a 1/4" right angle at the point of a 10D nail then...

Vicroy, This is the cockpit sole deck [I think it's called]. The entire deck is 6' x 8' the repair is about 8' across and varies from 6" to 20" it goes in and around the hatch openings. The top skin is only about 1/8" thick. I hope the vermiculite will work it sounds like it will be great to work wi...

Vicroy, I read Capt's post about the vermiculite. I thought it sounded great and decided to retain that forever [hopefully]. I thought that was for smaller repairs I go into the deck about 20" in areas. If the vermiculite works for that span, I'm great with it. And what are the micro balloons? Are t...

Could anyone help me make a fiberglass repair?
I am repairing the deck on my 28'. I cut the damage out after turning the deck upside down. I am woried that if the repair is not correct the top skin will be damaged. The damaged area is across the stern of the deck from 6" to 20" to the bow [around the 3 hatches]. I am ok with marine ply if it wil...

They all say #6 is all that is used on most new boats. The band was more for interferance on mostly ol...

I never thought worst marine would carry the copper bonding. Thanks I will stop in.
