That's interesting, when I left my engine/prop guys to their own resources they suggested 18 x 24s which I have over-ruled based on the information here. My guys tell me they have been getting better than factory results for all their other engine/prop installs but none on B31s. But I just can't see...

Props for Hull No. 330 with Yanmar315s?

From searching the old board the consensus seems to be for our B31fbc Yanmar 315s 2.03:1 ZF63a that the props should be 4 bladed 20" x 23". Any comments? We expect to be at the lower end of weight estimates, early hull but no generator, air, desal or tower - a day boat with teak cockpit & moderate f...

Hull No. 330 Repower

Thanks for all your help with technical information everybody, we've settled on the Yanmar 315s and they go in the week starting December 4 in an undercover shed. We've got a promise of two day turn around on the shafts allowing us to measure exactly when everything is in situ. We'll open a book on ...

Scot, Just going through the very same thing. We are glassing a f/g pipe through the transom and fitting a flap as well as fitting a riser to the exhaust by the engine. Not so much the momentary back pressure but to avoid any chance of a gutful of water coming back into the engine. Maybe over-cautio...

Tip Clearance

Could I please have some views on what the minimum propeller tip clearance should be to the hull for a Yanmar 315 installation, ZF63A 2:1 3 bladed on our 63 fbc. I always believed 10% of dia was OK but I'm getting conflicting advice. Also, I've searched the old site for 3 bladed propeller sizes but ...

Hull No. 330

We got a decent pair of eyes under the port bunk, wet it down and our date is 04...05...1963. Here we call that the 4th of May but where it was written I think that's the 5th of April which ties in with Mikey's advice.

By her next birthday she'll be like new again!

Thanks guys,

I make that 3 for white (incl. Tom & his proxy for UV), 4.5 for FL Yellow, (.5 fr Scot for close second choice), a very eloquent case for Buff fr Capt. Patrick and one informal vote.

I'll post a picture of the results of the poll in February 07.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks Capt. Patrick, we're going to investigate some extra air down the pilasters from a f/b vent as well, maybe directed for combustion air, as we are focused on minimising noise.

It's getting very close & and it's looking like the Yanmar 315s!

Hull Color - You vote, we paint!

We are going to paint the hull topsides on our 1963 fbc. The superstructure is white/white, the antifouling is green. The choice for the hull is White.....a very pale Buff....or....Fighting Lady Yellow.

You guys decide, we can't.

Almost ready to start the repower to diesel on our 1963 fbc. John, I had a very good run with Hynautic controls in the 1980s. We used the plastic lines - no problems really. The fluid we used was a water/glycol mix (i.e. anti-freeze) rather than a hydraulic fluid, so if you had a problem it would be hard to run out of fluid. I'd try fixing it if you can and I...
