Mikey, I've got a top of 31.82 (once) but cruise at 18 - 22 a lot, maybe John's just taking it easy....anyhoo, Sim, Are you sure the tank is 160, the literature I think says 172 before abt 1972 when they went to 220usgal or 222....reason I ask is that I can't be certain we've got 172 gal in our spor...

While you can buy an ex-Virginia Marine Patrol 31 for around $30,000 and suit yourself how you restore it, and more importantly suit yourself about how much you want to believe it will cost, or any of the other 1850-odd B31s built, it is going to be very hard for anyone to sell new 31s or look-alike...

I was very unimpressed with the "fairing block" and threw that piece of plastic out. Extra time and effort went into an integral fibreglass fairing block that can take a hit. I think the placement is crucial, away from the strakes, low down, accessible from the inside but high enough from the center...

Something to do with a piece of equipment on a shelf above maybe? If it were a repair there would be no point sticking plywood over it. A base for something...glued? Ready to fit thru hull fittings, sea-cocks that never happened? Interesting to speculate....but just get rid of it all. You've got the...

Hey Whaler, maybe you are the hope of the side! Have you splashed yet? Not that I want to get involved but I think the young lady in question expects her intended to be afloat. How much incentive do you need. Over to you. Capt. Pat, yeah, you know me, covered in sheilas. I wish. My idea for a fishin...

That would be good if you would do that, Brewster. Our own fearless leader Capt. Patrick said she might do well to "re-define her parameters" and that includes geography, obviously. I've not known Capt. Pat to be wrong. Just quietly, there are not many 31s down here so we are talking strictly R&R. L...

Well I am sorry to hear that Brewster, I thought that one had a chance. Not often you come across a young lady with her head screwed on right like that. Brewster, A Question?
How did it all turn out for that young lady who would only date a Bertram 31 owner? Was it petrols or diesels, flybridge cruiser or sportfish and did that make any difference?
Having been there at the very beginning I think we should be told.
Regards,
Nic

Mikeywriter, At the dock the other day this old rooster comes over to the boat and asks "do you fellas know what you've got there?" Well, he gets invited on for a beer and says he can't stay long because he's meeting his girlfriend. Two hours and four or five beers later we met her too when she came...

Bulletproof, Having been through both adventures/trials that you are going through I do have one suggestion - have the boat valued as is by a third party, not yourself or the soon-to-be ex, because in its current state it isn't worth anywhere near what has been spent on it. Pete Fallon on this board...

Mr Shelley....meet the Mean Team! The last sailboat I had was one built in 1947 in California from a William Atkin "Ingrid" design published in Rudder magazine. I spent over $200k restoring it. It had been one and a half times around the world. I sailed it 600 miles down the coast non-stop, 8 days, ...

Thanks Brewster, that goes without saying for sure. It's just that I'm being bounced around between all the "experts" I know, it's a case of too many cooks. What do you think about having a Forum covering fishing? You know, from the basics to sophisticated secret techniques. Mikey, This is a good assignment and you've come to the right place. Scot, To me there is no reason for a 24kn boat to have a surface drive. Most conventional drives top out at 39kn or so due to drag, (imho), unless you are......can't remember his name "That's My Hon" 1980s Palm Beach 55kn until Jack Nicklaus bought it and threw out the MTUs and put in another cabin....
