bad yard
Seems quite the norm when your working on boats. I did my own gas to diesel repower two winters ago..took me all winter but I didnot have to put up with crap like that. And they wonder why people are getting out of boating. Here in NJ nothing is moving. Boats are sitting on the market for years. Bet...

Shoot me a private message with your phone and I can go over what I learned when I did...

Phoenix
Phoenix was started by a group that left bertram. I owned a 1986 27 Phoenix and can tell you first hand it is a tough little boat. Finshed nicer than both bertrams I owned. Was a Jim Wyninn design from the seabird molds. Sold my to a friend and he also loves the boat. Full deep v with prop pockets.....

Topaz
I owned a 1980 28 and a 1989 29 both volvo diesel. The older one was built better Like JP said towards the end the Q.C. got very weak. I fished alot on a 37 and 38. Both the same hulls. One big bitch is engine room access. They mounted there fuel tanks outboard of the engines (which on the 37 was 32...

Tiara
After working on these silly things for over 25 years now crawling in around and under them I will say that (size for size) they all weigh around the same. There are some small differances but not that much. I have rebedded thru hulls on alot of hulls and can tell you there all about the same. So wh...

Bertram and Blackfin dont tell the whole story about the listed weights on their boats..bertams quote cruise weight, not dry weight.

tiara
I have owned both a 31 bert and now a 31 tiara (1988). I feel the tiara is the better overall boat. The bert was the better fishing boat. As far as the ride both boats are wet the tiara less so. I could get a knot or two better speed with the bert when it was on the nose. All other seas about the sa...
