drill some small holes around the boat, and see if its cored. I can't imagine it being cored through the entire boat, unless someone laid ply, then glassed over it. If that's the case, just lift the plug out

I have seen handcrafted boats not be symmetrical. I cannot say that I was aware of this on the 31. Is this difference because the boat was hand crafted, or is this by design? The cap is not very strong. The various components were put in place with gobs of resin putty then a layer of glass over the joints. I give you credit for pulling the cap. I use CLR to clean calcium deposits in the cooling system. I do remove them, and dunk them in a bucket full of CLR though.

I plan to cut out all of the wood, and was thinking 5 layers of glass.... Matt, Bi-ax, Matt, Bi-ax, then Matt. I was going to do coosa gussets for support (gunnel to hull), and running wires through. I debated doing rod holders, I have not made that decision yet.

For the average newer boat a salvage title reduces value and will be tougher to insure. -- A salvage on a new boat can be one big can of worms.
