John, Harry and I have the same boats and I did exactly what he did. The only thing I haven't done (probably this winter) is to close the aft bulkhead around the shafts and insulate that. I used the glue and pin method on most pieces but the glue and screw on some. On the panels between the engines ...

John, Glad you are finally in the "finishing mode." it only seems like forever. Although Dreamsicle has been in the water for a year I am still working on her. planning on keeping her in the water this winter and completing the interior. I tell people, who are dumb enough to ask, that I am eighty pe...

Coolair; Sorry I didn't respond when this was originally posted. Missed for some reason. I glassed a piece of plywood and glassed in place. Added some stops to hold the batteries in place and added straps to hold'em down. Works well and they are out of the way and low in the center of gravity depart...

America's Most Wanted
Several of you have asked me to let you know when something that I have done will be on the tube. Since I never know, it's tough, but I guest starred in an episode of America's Most Wanted that will air on this Saturday on your Fox affiliate at nine Eastern. This is a murder that occurred right here...

Rawleigh is hooked!
Last night at one of this country's most historic and beautiful churches (Christchurch in Lancaster County, Virginia) J. Rawleigh Simmons married Susan Gaskins Faulkner. Following the wedding the reception with sit-down dinner and dancing was held at Celebration, a 19th century manor house overlooki...

Bruce, True about the helicopters. I try not to go outside unless disguised as my airedale. The F jets are the best though. They use our creek as some kind of run. They come straight up the creek at treetop height and at our house turn straight up. From the perspective of my next-door neighbor's dec...

This is the s#*t rig I assembled to restore Dreamsicle. 2 X 4's with a shrink wrap cover. Worked very well until (As Drifter31 noted) winds over thirty. Actually I was working on the boat during the hurricane (o.k. so I'm not as bright as cute) when a gust of about fifty hit and started to raise the...

Couple of weeks ago took a few Bertram buddies for a cocktail cruise. Our little creek is perfect for such nonsense. We did our best to eat and drink all we brought. After dark we like to be tied up to prevent catching crab pots in the props. Backed into the boathouse and continued the party until p...

You've come to the right place. One of my businesses is in Tortola, BVI and I have been traveling there for over forty years. I have chartered there as well, but only sail. By the way if you can sail a Sunfish you can sail anything. The bigger the boat the more forgiving. On a Sunfish, if you make a...

Chris, It takes at least a dozen in the South. One to plug in the new one and the rest to stand, drink in hand and offer condolences for the old one. The old one is the forty-year old original to the house and the ice maker still works. It is going to a cabin on the Corrotoman. A just and deserved r...

Vic, Even though that's not your recipe I am going to give it a try this weekend. We're about five days from total completion and then break out the saute pan, garlic and butter. Whew! We have two cook tops, one is a two-burner gas and the other is a two-burner induction. One oven, one fridge a body...

When Rawleigh returns from vacation he should be able to supply some info on all of this (especially price and other original data)as his family bought their 31 new. Bob H. Harry, Having been a solver of problems (mostly of my own making) most of my life I have discovered guys like you most of my life. Jim, Are you talking about glass or frames? The lower frame on my express was useless. I bought a later front and curved frame and had to modify the boat as they are different from early to late models. The upper I had some welding done to repair the fractures and then powder coated the whole bunch....
