Thanks Walter for looking. Thanks Joe for the information. I'd have screwed that one up on the counter rotating side. I appreciate the help greatly from all.

re chroming
We had a bow choc, 4 clam shell vents, 2 bearclaw blower covers, 2 bertram emblems, 2 steps (going up to bridge) 4 original Lee rod holders, and 2 gunnel corners done for $1200. Came out to around $70 per item. I know some are more expensive to do than others but that was about the average.

Cunado, I went through Tempest Marine. They use a welder in Freeport -can't remember his name that supposedly does very good work. It did take a while though due to his schedule but it afforded us the time to get some other things done while out of the water. They then glass the tank, sand and barri...

new tank material
My brother and I just had a new aluminum tank put in the boat. The guys that did it encased the tank in chopped glass (mat), sanded it and coated with several coats of interlux 2000 barrier. Hope it holds up like they said it would.

6.5 L GM diesels
Looking at a pair of 6.5 L GM diesels with zf hurth 2.5 /1 transmissions. Just wanted to get some input on these as far as reliability, size (has to fit in a 31) fuel burn and whatever else you think about how these would perform in a 31 fb sportfisherman. Thanks in advance for input.

original wheel and seastar pump
Scot,
The wheel (original) on my 1963 sf 's lower helm fits ok but I did have to take a hackswaw and cut about a quarter inch off the cupped housing that fits over the pump. Mine just wouldn't fit until I did that. I then smoothed with a grinder.

Just a quick heads up to all 31 lovers around Houston, Galveston and Freeport - Rob, Brian, Lisa, Mike and all those I haven't met. My brother and I will be down at the boat in the morning and plan to be there most of the day. We will have plenty of beer (usually a nice variety). Come on down and vi...

McClain trailer
Phil,
Did you have your trailer made? If so, what should I expect to fork out for one if you don't mind me asking. Do you have a name and number of a contact person to call? Thanks.

great time of the year
Capt Pat, It sure is a nice morning for coffee out on the front porch after that little front. I bet it's a beautiful morning up in the hill country. Enjoy the day. Maybe Halloween won't be 90 degrees this year. Makes me wish I didn't have to get out in the rush hour traffic and go to work. Damn, I ...

Russ, thanks. I'll recheck those exchangers and make sure I'm not clogged. Rawleigh, I did take out the circulating pump and it did have the bronze impeller. The one I put back in had the steel impeller but the blades were a bit bigger and had a 90 degree at the end of each blade. Looks like it woul...

440 fresh water cooled engine temp help
Just wondering if someone might have any thoughts on an issue I'm having. I have 440 gassers, fresh water cooled engines. I'm running 160 degrees on my port and 195-200 on starboard. I've replaced the thermostat on starboard engine and tried running it without the thermostat. I've also replaced the ...
