Marshall,
You may want to look into vinylester with gelcoat.
There are some really nice VE resins that perform similar to epoxies,
with compatible gel coats

Re: Engine cradle/stand
Highly recommend a wheeled hydraulic engine hoist and some timber blocking.
Keep feet very clear and make sure the hoist is stable when moving about,
keep the engine low, leave your flip-flops on the boat.
Good luck,
Pete

Re: Gasoline fuel line requirements
Any hose must be USCG type A1 or B1 (mostly for fire). The type approved is the same ID as automotive, but much thicker walled. Metal piping has a requirement that there must be a flexible hose connection between hard mounted pipe and the engine. More info than you want, but may need available here:...

Re: Moisture meter at 100%
It really depends on the type of meter, humidity, etc. A probe or pin meter reads resistance between the probes, drop of sweat, heavy dew, condensation, etc. may change the readings. A capacitance meter reads, you guessed it, capacitance. More accurate,(only type of meter approved by the US Navy) mo...

The biggest question:
Does it come with a trailer?
Don't all outboards come with trailers?
Otherwise no deal.

Re: A Piece of Movie History for sale.
Funny, It was on Yachtworld three or 4 years ago for less than 60k. Strikers are/were great sea boats, not real fast, but would maintain in most sea conditions. Known/Marketed as "Little Ships" They were built in Holland, shipped back by Herb Phillips. The current company website appears to be smoke...

Re: Installing a Lower Helm
I don't have a lower helm, but I do have a set of gear controls on the port side of the cockpit. There is no helm or throttle set, just F-N-R for port and starboard. Super handy for docking, two people fishing if there need to be both of us in the cockpit. Fairly simple arrangement that was on the b...

Re: Frozen engine mount nut
To follow up Earley Bird with a steamship trick learned from a first engineer a long time ago: -Try a cold chisel on the flats of the nut, will make the threaded holes slightly larger, the nut is now junk, but the part is loose. A more modern trick: I keep a squeeze bottle of half acetone and 10wt o...
