I likewise am a fan of the B25. Have had one since 1970 and was my introduction to Bertrams and in lead to me getting a 20 and more recently a 31. I still have all 3.
One thing I liked about the B25 were the fiberglass stringers - no wood to rot.

Cummins 250hp gauges

I am thinking about replacing my original Cummins gauge panels, either with better Cummins panels or individual gauges. So what would you guys recommend? Do any of you have decent Cummins panels that you are not using and would like to sell? If you were to replace the gauges, what brand would you us...

Most on this board are a cut above, Gert is one of them

It amazes me what some people in this sandbox will do for people they do not know and haven't even met. Even though this sort of thing has happened before, I feel each story needs to be told. As I am sure you are aware, Gert over in the Netherlands has recently removed the rearbulk head windows to g...

Tommy,
I haven't splashed it yet with the straight 6. But from Bertram advertising it was supposed to do about 39-40mph at WOT - I am sure testing done under ideal conditions. I would say realisitically WOT would be more like 36mph.
So my guess at cruise would be around 28mph

Tommy, I have a B20 Sportsman. Was repowered several years ago with a small block V8, which is a tight fit. Boat is very stern heavy with this power package and I feel it does not perform well as the driving position is very far aft. Carried 20 gal of water in bow to help balance the boat. Think the...

Cummins 250hp

Have a question regarding the tach/hourmeter gauge. Engines have the Cummins gauge panel with the older VDO gauges with square bezels. Tachs have built in hour meters, and neither of the hour meters are working. Tach part works. Find it strange that both would be broken at what appears to be about t...

Spencer, It is just that it seems there are several B25's out there with half your horsepower doing about the same speed as you. Spencer,
I am surprised that your top speed is only 37knots. With 450 ponies back there I would have expected more like 45knots. Were the engines running correctly and propped correctly? Perhaps weight was an issue with those 2 big engines hanging off a bracket?

Agree with other posts. Start with battery and see if it will take a load. Check cables and connections. If all good then starter probably needs to be pulled and rebuilt

I would think 16 in a B31 would be no problem at all.b

Peter, I would agree. If starter motor was bad you should still get a voltage reading on your gauge. Surprised you still get a click though if no voltage? Do you have neutral start only safetly switches? If so maybe not quite in neutral? Do none of your gauges move when the key is turn on? If not I ...
