I think Tropic Star has a kid's special during that time, it would be the trip of a lifetime.
Could go to Cape May and stay at the canyon club fish a little and sight-see a little. Do it in July and then trek on up to Atlantic City for the Rendezvous.

Many thanks, I was leaning toward the 900 anyway. From thier website it looks like they've redesigned the filter elements so there may not be that much difference between them and the fleetguards anyway. UV, that crappie looks prudy... The perch are starting to kick in here in the chesapeake and Roc...

Harv, Glad to hear things are coming together for Windstar. Hopefully you'll be able to make Atlantic City this year with Windstar, secretly I'm going to try to have my boat done in time. Maybe we can setup a grude match between you and Dick with the looser picking up the dinner bill ;) Cheers, JohnD

Diesel Fuel Filter choices
While I'm waiting to get started on my conversion, I've been mulling over which type of fuel filtration to use. I've read what Tony from Boatdiesel writes on the topic and my local guy says Racor. I assume Fleetguards would be easier to service?? but Racor's cheaper per element?? I'm kind of torn, s...

Capt Mike, I agree on the gear ratio, though it looks like not mater which ratio I go I'll have to install trolling valves to keep a manageable fishing/docking speed. I rember how Doug's boat would kick around when shifting in/out of gear at the dock. Doug, I'll give them a call next week. I'm off t...

Help with prop sizing.
The motors (420hp 3126's for my B35) are at the rebuilder and I'm still deciding on what to do with trans. and props. They pacakge came with 2:1 gears and using the prop calc on boatdiesel.com I come up with roughly 25x32 and that seems like a lot of prop. So I've asked for a quote on new 1.5:1 gear...

Joel, For what it's worth, here are some thoughts Here in Maryland, new 6lp's are going for between 19k-22k each. So 10k each doesn't sound too bad to me. Do they include gears? if not then 10k sounds a little steep. My big concern would be (and was in my case) how can I really be certain I'm not bu...

Welcome DT, You've found a great resource here and one that will see you through owning an old boat. Unless you have to sell, keep the shamrock. Having a project boat you'll need a water fix from time to time and some "guilt free boating" to quote JohnF. Bertram's offered several variations of B31 (...

I went with the 3126's 420hp, they come with 2:1 gears and I'm pricing trolling valves but would rather horse trade for a set of 1.75 or 1.5 to 1 gears. The Cummins were my 1st choice until this deal came along. I agree with the fg shaft tube, but along with side exahusts and side air intakes, they ...

Thoughts on Cat 3126 420hp
I've come across a decent deal on a set of 3126's for my B35 cost is a little less that it would be for 6bta's and they will come with rebuilder warranty and good local support. I've read what's no boatdiesel and it seems that the 3126's are better than the 3116's. Also, these motors will have all o...

I'm thinking of driving up from Blatimore on the 3rd of Feb, it might make a good mid-winter distraction.
any of the faithful in the area up for a road trip? Or anybody going to be there on the 3rd?
I can fit 4 pretty comfortably in the box, let me know.
