i agree...should have stayed with the original hull formula and refined it with modern materials. the race should be as much about the helmsman and the tactician as the boat.

tropic star is a miracle of comfort without glitz. about perfect in the "feels right" sense. i guess because at heart it is so isolated and hard core all the BS is missing. if you try you will discover theres a bit more to the place than just the obscene fishing.

not to mention taking green water over the transom. the mate was cleaning a good size mahi when we had a sail on. the capt backed down so hard that the mahi and all the mahi guts wound up in my lap. everyone laughed. its that kind of place.

just personal preference but i hate those windows. i hate those upright oval windows also and i especially hate those half round windows with fake mullions they use on houses. when it comes to windows i am extremely opinionated.......carry on.

i'm also a fan of the "rolling restoration" buy something that works and and enjoy it and improve it system by system. working on the boat is a lot less work if you actually get to play with it as much as you work on it. even when its "done" which for most is never.......you will still be working on...

no need.....its just easier to have every boat exactly the same. also a day can be a run out to the reef to catch bait, or bill fish if they are there,4 miles. or a run up the coast to catch bait or bottom fish, as much as 25 miles. or go offshore for tuna and mahi and billfish. or all that and more...
