danielle provides us with 4 days of beautiful perfect slightly over head surf...earl looks to be alot more intense. the surf report projection for friday night in montauk is actually................35 foot. maybe someone will tow into great eastern. (a mysto reef off the point). glad you escaped.......

the 60 bertram i fish on runs about 30 knots. kind of a rough ride but worth it in time saved. we however DO watch the TV. last november out 100 miles on a rainy stormy day i was comfortably watching the jets game when a reel went off and it was my turn.....................oh well.

the ocean is the best way. far easier. like choosing an 80 mile trip on a superhighway or a one lane washboard road with a cliff on one side. even in my 14 foot boat the inside wasn't much fun.

DQ...you got that right. for the first 30 miles i was reclining on the port engine box with my feet over the gunwale catching rays and mind surfing the wake. a light mist kept me cool. delightful. never saw the transom slide an inch.

a feigned question i fear but none the less mike and i ran in from 70 out yesterday in a mostly following sea. we only saw one boat on the way in and we blew its doors off. it was obvious the helmsman was trying to run at wave speed because the transom would slide and wash out on the downhill portio...

mike...i paint it on lightly then cover it with light washes of white....kinda sneak up on it till it looks right. the heavier white where the paper doubles helps add to the illusion.....smoke and mirrors.
